Chuan Xiang Lou • Sunway Mentari — Restaurant in Petaling Jaya

Our close group of friends - some as early as primary friends - has a tradition of gathering whenever there is someone's birthday in that particular month. We had gone to numerous Chinese restaurants, pub, club, bar, etc.. and recently China restaurants caught the wind.

To date, we have gone to a few China restaurants that have private room, because we are one bunch of noisy fellas and kaki botol that has to be contained. Chuan Xiang Lou fits our requirement and their food certainly are impressive.

◾Famous Grilled Fish in special Sichuan sauce with grouper fish. ◾Fish in sour soup proved to be appetizing. ◾Century eggs - they actually have a very long name of "peach & plum blossoms in the upper layer of mountain and fireworks in the cloud" but too cumbersome to write. ◾salted prawn ◾shredded mutton ribs - my personal favourite. ◾Twice cooked pork ◾Ma Po beancurd - classic taufu dish done right. ◾sweet & sour pork ribs + salt & pepper pork ribs ◾steamed egg with minced meat ◾vegetables - hand shredded cabbage, garlic sprout with pork, ◾hot & sour potatoes ◾fried noodles ◾desserts - fried pumpkin & candied yam

I came here for my friend's birthday celebration. The food is well made, and it comes with reasonable food portion, however, I think there is some room for improvements on the dishes flavour to perfect them!

手撕包菜 is well fried! I like it.

川香饺子 fillings are not flavourful enough. And the dumplings skin can be made thinner.

辣子鸡 comes with a good portion (unlike many other restaurants, they only serve the dish with a lot of dried chillies), however the chicken can be fried a little longer to make it crispier and flavourful.

酸辣土豆丝 taste great however it can be better if is it a little spicier and sour. Well done overall. :)

胡椒猪肚土鸡煲 is well done! Keep it up.

Last week I ordered grilled fish, griddle lotus, griddle chicken. Today I ordered cumin mutton and chicken in Hunan style.

Overall the taste is delicious and the customer service is also excellent. My whatsapp message is always being replied very promptly.

I ordered the food thru Beepit which I think they should allow user to rate the restaurant using the apps.

The grilled fish I wish it could be spicier and surprisingly they actually put pig skin and pig blood inside as to normally other seller usually put potatoes and lotus. The chicken in Hunan is extremely tasty and is my favourite among all. The other two griddle chicken and lotus also not bad and not too oily. Cumin mutton is also excellent and tasted like 羊肉串but not in skewer style.

Compared to other Chinese restaurant, their portion is a little smaller though for the same...
