Fat One BBQ Steamboat — Restaurant in Petaling Jaya

I was a bit skeptical with the reviews before I visit this place. I went there last night with my family. Book the table a day before. I was glad out table is indoor facing the aircond, so not hot as claimed by some reviews.

Food wise, I'm not sure other seafood but those that we ate are fresh such as crabs (still alive), prawns and mussels.

However, the oysters are not fresh. So, we just cook it before consume.

The kam hiong crabs are nice too but you need to grab it fast when they serve else you won't stand a chance to try it.

Soup is just mediocre. For nicer soup base, then have to go for those big name hotpot restaurant. Ice cream just normal. Not HD ya... They have nice taufufa for dessert too which is a plus point for me since you can choose to go with syrup or not.

Since we go there for the food varieties especially the seafood; all in all, is a nice experience for my family. No complain.

We stay at Dorsett Grand Subang just for the sake of the kids swimming in hotel pool. Then night time have an urge to try Steamboat and found this Fatt One on Goolge Local Guide. Drove there using Waze made a big round guidance but as usual never regret as it guide us using least traffic jam. There you go we arrived at Fatt One at Dataran Mentari. Park the cat not far and we have to get our number to wait even at 8.30pm. The restaurant are packed to the brim. While waiting we took some jelly for kids and in 15mins time our table was assign. By the roadside but in a tent. As usual full of buffet items to be self collected many choices. Chilly mixes on own. Few type of broth soup fpr choosing. We went with 2Adult and 2 small kids. Without argument they charge for 2 Adult only..cost us Rm 80++. But the crab are real crabby, next time i shall skip that as we have better crab choice outlet....

I had been to this restaurant a few times as they had been in business for more than a decade. The variety of food is commendable as they have one of the largest selection of food in the whole Klang valley. However the broth selection is limited and the pre cooked food selection wasn't great nowadays as they used to have better selections. The dining condition also isn't that great with the interior feeling pretty hot while the WC and washing area wasn't the cleanest. While the price is'nt the most expensive considering the variety, they are considered a little on the high side. Come here for purely the spread of food but otherwise other places are more comfortable and clean.
