I've been patronizing Hometown Hainan Coffee since 2017 and it's a great place to to eat with friends and family or alone.
Depending on the time of the day, this premium corner coffee shop can be a quiet and tranquil place to bring your laptop to work, or noisy as customers pile in.
The food is decent, the menu is in my opinion, far too large for a restaurant like this. The issue at hand is consistency across the menu. Some unpopular items may not taste good if their raw ingredients are frozen for weeks.
Prices have unfortunately gone through an increase, post Covid-19. It's now about as expensive as Pappa Rich used to be.
Parking is difficult as this restaurant is smack dab in the middle of commercial Sea Park. Even at night it's not that easy to find empty lots as there's a popular restaurant next to it.
I haven't dined in for years since the MCO was lifted in 2022. The dine in crowd is back and this place is as...
Read moreI'll admit that Hometown Hainan is not exactly everyone's cup of teh tarik. I do love it for very specific reasons - mainly because their teh tarik is kaw, creamy and sweet enough for me. I even stock up on their 3-in-1 instant teh tarik and bring them during my travels. Favorite instant teh tarik brand.
Air-conditioning is very decent. Plenty of tables with comfortable cushion seating. Certain tables have a single plug point, a luxury these days. F&B can be premium but hey, if you're like me, who can sit down an hour on one drink and get some laptop charged up, I'm a happy camper. Great place to work from, IMHO.
Parking in SEA Park can be scarce. Popping by when it's quieter later at night, is easier. Last call is around 11 to 11.20ish pm, and they close off just before midnight.
All in all, a dream place to lepak with a laptop for those who just need a drink, a power plug and...
Read moreI took a bite of the curry chicken, and it was extremely unfresh—the meat was tough, had a strange smell, and had even turned gray. I complained to the staff, and a kitchen employee came out to explain that the dish was made from pre-cooked packaged curry chicken and that this was just how it tasted. I said, “I can’t accept this kind of garbage food. Even if you gave it to me for free, I wouldn’t eat it!”
In the end, the staff canceled my curry chicken order. I didn’t have time to take a photo of the bitten chicken, as the kitchen staff quickly took the unfresh curry chicken back to the kitchen as soon as...
