Typical Chinese coffee shop with a lot of stalls. I went due to many good reviews, and I tried food from 4 different stalls. I generally would not write negative reviews but only the good ones.
In my opinion, the most outstanding food is the Char Siu from the Chicken rice stall located at the front of the shop. The Char Siu was roasted for 2 hours, which rendered the fatty parts of the meat fully cooked, and hence, it melted in your mouth. Just enough sweetness and char to add to the flavour. The Char Siu from a famous Chinese restaurant along Jalan Imbi KL used to be a benchmark but no longer for some time. I think I very much prefer the Char Siu from this stall. Although the chilli sauce is standard fare, as with most chicken rice stalls, it matches the flavour of the Char Siu quite well. I would not be surprised if the rice would be equally good.
The elderly owner of the stall is super friendly, and his service is akeen to the old school Chinese courtesy. For those who are unaware, broth made with chicken feet, onions, tomatoes, and potatoes comes free (far from the usual half hearted broth you get from Chicken rice stalls) and I dare say, this broth is much better than the broth of another popular stall in the same shop.
We didn't order the steam kampung chicken or the roast chicken. According to the owner, the kampung chicken is sourced from a very good farm, and similarly, the meat for the Char Siu from specially breed pigs.
You can also call to pre book the Char Siu for your private dinners or CNY dinner, etc. See phone number on picture attached.
Aside, I also enjoyed the Curry Laksa, run by a young Chinese couple. My wife suspected that the curry broth was made in-house instead of from curry paste/broth made in a food factory (like many Prawn noodles stalls buy from). The flavour of the curry broth is better than your standard fares with no issues what so ever. It was well made and tasty, which is perfect as a go-to common comfort food.
Lastly, it merits mention that the owner of the Mee Jawa stall is again super friendly. I think he or family/friend runs the Chee Cheong Fun stall adjacent to it. Mee Jawa available on weekends only. May try it on...

13 stalls operate in the shop offering a good range of coffee shop fare.
Reviewing a few which I’ve eaten over a few visits.
FeiFei white pepper soup - choice of pork intestines, pork belly slices, pork stomach and pork ribs. I’ve tried them all on different occasions. Very good and reasonably priced! Cheaper than what bak kut teh shops will charge for the same. At times, white pepper soup can be too peppery and borders on the bitter side though. Come between 730am-130pm to avoid disappointment. Score for the four choices: 4.5/5
Authentic Ipoh Chee Cheong Fun (CCF). Worthy of the name authentic. Uses the delicious Ipoh-style maroon colour sweet sauce. Can be a tad too salty at times. CCF is smooth and come in a choice of sauce configurations just like in Ipoh. Topped with fragrant, crispy fried onions - freshly fried ones, not those terrible ones supplied in commercial packets. Pickled green chillies are superb. Available 7am-3pm except alternate Mondays. Score: 4.5/5
Mee Siam. RM3.50 for a generous plate of bihun fried in tasty tom yam flavour. Tastes every bit like what good mee Siam should taste like. 7am-230pm except alternate Mondays. Score: 4.5/5
Fish head noodle. What makes this stall stands out is the availability of deep fried boneless fish fillet not usually served by other fish head noodle stalls. Fresh and crispy! 7am-230pm except alternate Mondays. Score for deep fried fish fillet: 4/5
Iced coffee. Delicious coffee done with the right ratio of condensed and evaporated milk. RM3.00 for a glass. Score for iced...
Read moreWe arrived at this place at 1330hrs on Saturday. It is not packed, but the crowd is there.
We wanted to try the char siew, but was told that they usually sold out by 1100hrs.
So went for the Ipoh Chee Cheong Fun and the Char Kuey Teow.
Ipoh Chee Cheong Fun (RM4) - We ordered the standard chili and sweet sauce version, which is signature to Ipoh. It tastes good but still a small tiny tad loose to Thean Chun Ipoh. However, for the serving, I will not repeat order as it is just too small a portion for RM4. Yes, it is KL price, but still at RM4, for that tiny portion is a bit over-the-top pricing. We suspect this stall takes CCF stock from either Ipoh direct or worst some middle person, hence explains the high cost. However, it is something the stall owner has to work around, and all they need is to maintain price and add 15% to 20% more to the portion.
Char Kuay Teow (RM8) - Charred with "wok hei". Portion for KL standard is acceptable. As for taste wise, still lacking some umami that usually come with CKT. The prawns are acceptable in size and freshness. Texture wise, a bit fake as it's too "crystally crunchy" - suspect it has been soaked in boric or baking soda.
Verdict:- Unless I am in the area, else I will not purposely make my way to this shop. We are not saying the food is not good. We just need not purposely go all the way to SS3 from Subang Jaya or from any locations that require traveling time of more than 15mins. If and when you are in SS3, yes, this kopitiam do offer some variety to whet...
