Ada oomph!

Cafe by day, restobar by night - Oomph has taken the market by storm after its initial success in Bukit Jalil. The second outlet in Megah Rise PJ proved to be just as popular.

I believe that Brew & Bread are one of few people behind it, as the food was similar while the coffee were using the same brand. Taking 3-lots in this neighbourhood mall, the entire premise was promised to be spacious, well-planned with a corner where racks were stacked with bottles of wine; a stage where live performance takes place at night; and a long bar where countless cakes + pastries are displayed for patrons to choose (dine-in or takeaway).

But what I like about this place is the fact that most (not all ya 😇) food items in the menu cost less than RM30, making it packed with cafe hunter and local residents most of the time.

â—ŸDouble Boiled Wild Mushroom Soup - sauteed wild mushrooms & caramelized onions boiled slowly into creamy & rich soup; served with diced toasted bread. â—ŸMexican fish cakes - deep fried breaded tuna fish cakes with tartar sauce. Similar to croquettes and tasty too! â—ŸHand battered fried chicken was crunchy and juicy which made me wonder what kind of secret batter they use. â—ŸBechemel Chicken Ranch Pizza using thin crust base topped with cheddar, feta, spiced chicken, capsicum, button mushroom, sour cream, dill, garlic & Bechemel sauce. â—ŸReal cheese burger using 150g of Aussie beef patty with double cheddar cheese, peach slices and tartar sauce. Served with thick cut fries and onion rings on the side. â—ŸCaesar Salad & Hand Battered Fried Chicken - gotta love the fresh lettuce, cherry tomato, poached egg topped with fried chicken and then grated parmesan cheese. â—ŸFettuccine Pesto was commendable with the hearty & creamy pesto sauce mixed with diced chicken, wild mushrooms, cherry tomato and parmesan cheese. â—ŸCountless of cakes available at your whim and fancy.

The family has taken a liking to this cafe and we will come here once in a while to enjoy the...

A Splash of Oomph with a Dash of Quirks

If you’re on the hunt for bold flavours and a bit of culinary flair, Oomph certainly lives up to its name. With an excellent selection of dishes that go well beyond the usual cafĂ© fare, this restaurant packs a punch where it matters most – on the plate.

Top of the must-try list? The indulgent Truffle Carbonara Bacon Brisket and the lip-smacking Dark Miso Korean Fried Chicken Rice. Both are as delicious as they sound – rich, hearty, and full of character. It’s easy to see why these dishes might quickly gain cult status among regulars.

The drink menu caters generously to those who enjoy something a little stronger – their liquor selection is commendable. However, if you’re the designated driver or just not in the mood for alcohol, the limited non-alcoholic options might leave you a tad underwhelmed. And here’s the real heartbreak: no coffee after 4pm. For those who enjoy a post-meal pick-me-up, that absence might feel like a personal betrayal.

But wait – dessert lovers, rejoice. Oomph offers an eye-catching spread of sweets and unique cakes that practically beg to be photographed before they’re devoured. If your sweet tooth calls the shots, you’ll be in sugar-dusted heaven.

The ambience is given an extra lift with live music – mostly in Chinese, likely catering to its predominantly Chinese-speaking crowd. It adds a nice touch, though non-speakers might feel like they’ve wandered into a gig they weren't quite invited to.

In a nutshell, Oomph is a solid pick for those craving inventive food and decadent desserts, paired with a drink or two and a splash of live tunes. Just don’t come expecting a decaf latte with your cake at 7pm – or much of a mocktail menu, for that matter. Bring your appetite and a little flexibility, and you’ll likely walk away with a satisfied smile (and maybe a...

Was excited to see a nearby cafe serving Brew and Bread coffee and a cursory glance at the menu, it seemed to be a shortened menu of the Kota Kemuning branch so I assume that they are the same company or management, but oh what a difference in quality of food and service.

We ordered the avocado toast and the dried shrimp hummus for our breakfast. First let’s talk about the service, food took 20 minutes to arrive which would not be a long time except there was only one other table when we ordered.

Then I saw another table that actually got their burger before I received my dried shrimp hummus.. had to ask them before I finally got my order. When the order was received honestly did not understand why it took so long ? The only item on the plate that I think needed to cook fresh was perhaps the bits of eggplant ?

Now for the taste , my wife’s avocado toast was horrible. It tasted like pancake and we understand that there was honey in the dish but the funny thing is one side of the toast was without honey so I guess the kitchen cooks drenched honey on one side of the bread that was meant to be spread evenly.

My dried shrimp hummus with croissant was underwhelming and bland and honestly wasn’t worth the wait. They could not even poach the egg right. It was overdone and this is perhaps the first time I’ve seen a poached egg that when cut into had a solid yolk.

Really hope these are teething problems and they get their quality of food on par with their coffee.

The cashier was gracious enough to offer a 10% discount on the late dish and that was a...
