Original Penang Kayu Nasi Kandar - Bandar Sri Damansara — Restaurant in Petaling Jaya

I hv heard many stories about this Kayu, it's located in the same building as my studio. Most comments are about the RIP-off price. My very first experience was not a good one. I pointed at the menu and told the guy I wanted Roti Kosong. And I asked what's the meaning of Roti Kosong 1 set, he said just roti kosong, the price is rm1.10. The table was oily, the chair has some left over bread crumbs and rice. Waited for rather long, I was served with Roti Canai. I surely know how roti kosong looks like. So I double checked: ini roti kosong? The guy nodded his head. So I started eating, then I saw the bill stated: Roti canai rm1.80..I called and asked , 3 guys came , talked in their language, still cant explain. When I paid bill, I asked the cashier, I was gentle yet with firm tone, he admitted it's the staff's miscommunication, I paid rm1.10. I asked then what's roti kosong, he pointed at the gardenia loaf, and said: 2 pieces of white...

Original penang nasi kandar is OK. Nothing to shout about . The only problem is the open loud music . So people or patron are talking loudly , they want to carry imagine of hight standard but the workers are not fluent enough on local spoken language , then the business owner wants to make or maintain bigger or higher profit so ever dammed things he charges write up to plastic beg even to extent of packing food for every packed charges .20 cent

So why we as consumer can't exercise by not going there and teach these people that we command then them.! I am sure there are better nasi kandar outlet food taste better then them. I stopped patronising actually. No doubt some food not bad like mee goreng , roti canai And nasi goreng kambing not bad actually but again who is cooking as it varies according or depends on the cooks mood ..my sincere observations as I am an Indian Musilim so my level of taste bud can...

The food here is really over rated. There are many nasi kandar shops much better than this place. The fried chicken is oily and tasted pretty bland. The chicken rendang taste nothing like rendang. Chicken kurma was bland. However the teh tarik is worth trying. The service by the person dishing the food is horrendous. His attitude is brash, curt and totally impolite. Gave very little sauce on the rice, asked for more and he gave us the dirty look. The one piece of papadom on the rice was oily and soft, no longer crispy. The lady fingers were rather old and tough. The food here is pricey. Though the restaurant is spacious, clean and airy, I would not return to this place. Do not park along the roadside as clamping by city council happens everyday.
