This is a hidden gem! If you liked Ahwa down the road you would be surprised at the Hokkien Mee! They are really good! It is much better than Ahwa in my opinion!
The star complement to the Hokkien Mee is their sambal! It is that good that had to go back and take a picture of it! Just the right mixture of spice and lime juice and Belacan mixed together.
Food: 5/5 The Hokkien Mee is well fried. Just the right amount of oil. Good amount of shrimp, vegetables, pork and pork fat. The taste is great with the sambal! The Kung Foo Char or War Tan Hoe is not really my dish but it was good!
Service: 5/5 Unbelievable service! It’s service with a smile consistently. Friendly and fast service! They anticipate your requests a lot of times when seated at the restaurant!
Atmosphere: 4/5 I only gave this a 4 star because it is just a regular coffee shop style restaurant! But plenty of seating available! It’s a hidden gem and I like to give them the praise but I am scared it will let busy and...
Read moreWe ordered fried hokkien mee for 3 person serving size with extra vegetables (at additional charge). It came the size for 2 persons without extra vegetables. We paid the 'premium' price and complained to the foreign worker server who had also taken the order. As with most things in this country, we assumed it would have fallen on deaf ears. As we devoured what little serving that came, the server returned saying another serving will soon arrive at no additional charge. 5stars goes to the foreign worker who brought it up to his boss and for the boss to provide satisfaction to the customer. The TIP: he foreign worker suggests to order separate servings in future to receive the 'right' size. A long long time ago at the more popular Ahwa at the other end of the block, i complained (directly to the boss) the tiny size served and he did not even react to the complaint. Since that day, i never ate there until once last year. It tasted absolutely horrible...
Read morecame for dinner and ordered :-
a) Hokkien fried noodle (L) @ RM17 - tastes pretty good, better that Ah Wa (inconsistent) further down the road IMO and minus the wait. Only gripe, they charged me RM3 extra for pork lard when i pandai pandai told them to + chu yao cha when ordering. It was blanket with it when served and surely too much to our liking! Just stick to the normal order which is suffice (saw neighboring tables) I know now! b) Loh Mee (S) @ RM9 - This was disappointing! Flat, tasteless and if not of the vinegar + sambal belacan, we'll not enjoy this a bit!
There is also Thai fried (manned by foreign workers) popiah and the 'some says' very good satay and fried chicken. We didn't have room for that but will surely come back again to check them out! Coffee shop is ok (cleanliness) but more fluorescent lights to brighten up the place will...
