Just Chinese Restaurant, located in PJ Newtown in the former Thai Corner space, offers convenient dining with ample parking available right in front of the establishment.
The restaurant is spacious and well-suited for hosting larger groups; we dined as a party of eight at a comfortable circular table. The interiors are air-conditioned, creating a pleasant dining environment, and there’s a “bring your own drinks” policy with a corkage fee of 20 ringgit.
As for the food, the yam basket, hot plate beancurd, and Kam Hiong clams were definite highlights, packed with flavor and well-prepared. The Dragon vegetable and mixed Kai Lan dishes were also commendable, offering fresh and delicious vegetable options.
However, not all dishes hit the mark. The assam squid was average, while the butter prawn, priced at 70 ringgit, felt overpriced and underwhelming. Additional charges included 4 ringgit for a large bottle of water, 2 ringgit per bowl of rice, and 5 ringgit per glass of apple juice, which seemed a bit steep.
Service was decent but required some effort to get the wait staff’s attention at times. On the bright side, the restaurant provided ice and calamasi for our gin (as part of the “bring your own booze” policy), and we were pleasantly surprised by the unique pairing of calamansi instead of lemon or lime, which complemented our drinks nicely.
Overall, Just Chinese Restaurant offers a mix of hits and misses. While some dishes shine and the bring-your-own-drinks option is appealing, certain aspects, like pricing and consistency, leave room for...

I can't rave enough about the crab. I opted for the chili crab, and it was pure perfection. The freshness was undeniable, the meat cooked to a delicate sweetness, and the sauce perfectly balanced between savory and slightly spicy. Every bite was an explosion of flavor. It's definitely a must-try for any seafood lover!
The service deserves special mention. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, always happy to make recommendations and answer questions.

Read moreSince there were some great reviews, we (2 paxs) came to check it out. Place was cool with good air conditioning. Clean tables, comfy chairs, clean cutleries, and fresh condiments on the table.
Ordered claypot potato leaves, butter milk chicken, and regular deep fried yam ring, 2 plates of rice and 2 chinese teas.
For us, the taste of food was nothing to shout about. Instead, we hope to see improvements. Portions were not generous. Butter milk chicken was drier than expected, the chicken bits were over fried, and the sauce was too little. Potato leafs could also use more sauce. Yam was a total letdown for me, it was tasteless unfortunately.
All in all, we couldn't understand the 4 stars+ google rating on the food and place was about.
We hope the boy who served us had a smile and will improve more on his customer service than trying to get our orders and be...
