Being the first recreational lake gardens in the city of Petaling Jaya, Taman Jaya Park has crowd of visitors everyday who flock in to spend a few hours jogging or exercising or to simply catch up with friends or sit back and have a good time.
The plants and lawn is well kept but unfortunately the large pond which is the central feature of the park, smells bad ; often you will see dead fish floating and rotting. It is however popular with anglers and I think the common type of fish that they manage to hook is the Ikan Sepat. The park has recently upgraded; new plants especially a bamboo grove has been planted. The walking path has been widened and repaired especially some sections beside the pond which had collapsed.
There is also a nice winding cycling paved path for those who want to practise their cycling. A large concrete stage has been built jutting into the pond - this is popular especially early in the morning for those who practice Chi Gong and Yoga. The children's playground is well maintained and all the equipment is new and safe. A nice place for families to visit even with very young children.
The Park is ideal for Jog, Run, Zumba, Yoga, Workout, Picnic, Chill, Kid's playground. It can be best place for health conscious people. Good for family picnic. Very enjoyable and easy to get access to from the LRT station. There are 2 entry points by car and both have limited car parks.
Facility for playing skateboard or rollerblade also provided here. Apart of that, people can spend time by visiting PJ Museum that located in this area. The playgrounds are well maintained. The area around the lake is suitable for family and individual seeking a fine area to exercise.
Below are my rating points:
Taman Jaya Park is a great neighborhood park that has been around for ages. Very beautiful scenery, its a big park that one can enjoy jogging and spending time with the family, for no charge at all. Clean and well-kept. Take a walk/jog around the lake, or on Sunday mornings, join in the community aerobics session conducted by instructors that held at the park area from time to time.
The park also provides delightful views of the surrounding greenery and the Taman Jaya Lake, where fishing is possible with permit. The night scenery is pretty nice especially by the lakeside. Just that without security guards around, I dont recommend visiting this place at...
Read moreOn 27 th July of 2025, I took my family of 4 to this park for a charity fun fair. A month before the funeral fair I have bought some fun fair coupons from my neighbour. He told me this charity was organised by NASAM ( the National Stroke Association of Malaysia ) n sponsored by some big corporate organisations such as the Lions' Club of KL n the Marriott Hotel as well. The funds from this charity drive will be channeled back into NASAM to help to rehabilitate the stroke patients. The fun fair started as early as 8am until 2 pm. The parking area was so small although the park was large enough for a big crowd. The authorities should try to extend this car park in order to encourage more people to visit this scenic park. Finding a parking lot was a real headache for me. I had to wait till some early birds had finished buying n eating their food n ready to go home, before I could get a place to park my car. Wasted about 45 minutes just to park the car. Then we walked down to where the tents were. The whole park was transformed into a buzzing food n drinks n games playground. Full of people of all ages coming to support such a good cause. Music n songs blared loudly throughout the park from a media station set up under the shade of an old tree. It was very well organised . All the various food n drinks stalls were systematically lined up in a long row along the side of the lake. The games stalls n a popcorn stall n a balloon stall plus a stall selling eco- friendly detergents were set up on a slightly higher ground of the park. The whole park was utilized to its fullest capacity. In the centre of the park in front of all the various food n drinks stalls was a huge tent where tables n chairs were placed for the customers to sit n drink there in cool comfort with electric fans at full blast. A group of volunteers who were all ex- cancer patients was doing some line dancing to entertain the guests at the funeral fair. It was such great fun. There should be more events taking place here as this park is so centralised n so easily accessible by all Petaling Jaya residents. Looking forward to more of these wholesome family events in the future. The Saint John's Ambulances were parked by the side just in case anyone may need medical aid during the fun fair. In fact they had 2 such ambulances on standby. The whole event I should say was so well planned. Should applaud the organisers for being so thoughtful n detailed in their planning. To me , this NASAM event being held at this Taman Jaya Park has been a...
Read moreLast month in July I took my family to this park for a fun fair. The charity fun fair was organized by NASAM- the National Stroke Association of Malaysia. The proceeds from the charity fun fair are to help to rehabilitate the stroke patients of our country. So I bought some coupons of RM each coupon to support this charity drive for a good cause . It was on a Sunday 27 th of July 2025. We reached there at about 10 am n there was a huge crowd there buying n eating n drinking at the various stalls in the park. It started at 8 am n ended at 2 pm. The tents were all set up on one side near the lake . Though it was sunny it was quite shady under the trees n the white colored tents. Further up under the big n shady trees were some game stalls. In the centre on the flat n level ground was the media station where the MC was making announcements n playing some music n songs . I feel this park is an extremely suitable place for such charity events . There is such a cool n serene place beside a large lake . It’s shady n quiet too. Joggers n families always frequent this park for their exercise n leisurely walks early in the morning or in the evening. Large corporations n big companies can consider holding their family day or annual company events here out in the open to have some fun n games. Can also organize some leadership training programs here too. Get some healthy sunshine n clean air for all employees. Back to the fun fair. Many stalls were selling drinks like coconut water, ice Kachang n even bottled mineral water. As for food , there was a wide variety such as fried noodles, soup noodles, cakes n buns n paus . Satay n roasted lamb were also sold here. Thai food n Thai dessert were also available. All local Malaysian street food was for you to choose. Really spoilt for choice. We bought food n drinks n sat in the huge tent to enjoy the whole scene . There was some entertainment - some ladies n a gentleman were dancing n swaying with the music. Even children could enjoy some popcorn from a stall selling it. A lady was also selling balloons of various shapes to the children. We left the park at about 12 noon. One disadvantage though was the small parking lot . There were so many cars that couldn’t find parking n these drivers had to park far away . Somehow the car park should be extended to accommodate many cars in the near future in order to ensure the feasibility n success of future events...
