I've passed Shin Zushi multiple times at night and there is always a long queue. Even at past 9pm. I had to know what the fuss is all about so I decided to go there for lunch... on a weekday... at 2pm... and there was still a queue, although not anywhere near as long as the ones I've seen.
There were 3 parties ahead of us but there were at least 3 couples behind us that went ahead of us because the seating was for 2 and there were 3 of us. So here's a tip - come as a pair and you might just jump the queue a little.
It took us 30 minutes of waiting. I shudder to think how those at the back of the long queues I've seen had to wait. There was a notice that mentioned that they are trying out a new queuing system that records your phone number and they will call you when a table becomes available. However when I asked the staff, they said just wait.
You can however pick your order items using the web app which you then place by scanning a QR code once you get a table. Which was what we did. Unfortunately, it took another 30 minutes before the food finally arrived.
Ok first off, the food is great and prices are very reasonable. We ordered a sushi lunch set that came with a selection of sushi including 4pcs of unagi sushi, salad, miso soup and green tea. We also ordered 2 sushi rolls, a spider roll and a salmon roll. Each came with 4 pcs.
I must comment on the nice presentation. Good Japanese food is not just a feast for the stomach but for the eyes as well.
I've got nothing but praises for the food but the long waiting time really makes me think twice about making my next visit. And no, they don't take reservations.
Part of the reason for the long wait is that there isn't much seating room. A huge kitchen counter takes up most of the space up front. Furthermore, the fancy partition that house some tables take up too much space.
Therefore, I recommend the place with trepidation. Go only if you don't mind waiting and go as a couple. Definitely avoid going as...

As the last customer of the night at Shin Sushi SS2, I braced myself for a potentially rushed experience. However, the wait was absolutely worth it. The dedication to quality shone through in every dish, leaving me thoroughly impressed.
My culinary journey began with the Age Ebi Gyoza, an absolute standout. The plump shrimp filling was perfectly seasoned, and the accompanying sauce was a revelation – a unique blend of flavors that elevated the dish to new heights.
Next came a delightful exploration of their ramen offerings. The Buta Kaku Ramen was a hearty and flavorful broth, while the Tori Teri Ramen provided a lighter, yet equally satisfying option. Both were brimming with fresh ingredients, making them a comforting and delicious experience.
No sushi dinner is complete without a selection of nigiri. The Kuruma Ebi Nigiri was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, while the Maguro Nigiri and Salmon Nigiri were impeccably fresh and flavorful. The Salmon Belly Nigiri was a true highlight, boasting an incredible richness and buttery texture. And the Torch Scallop Teri Nigiri and Torch Tiger Prawn Mentai Nigiri were simply divine – the delicate sweetness of the scallops and the savory richness of the prawns were perfectly complemented by the torched accents.
While all the dishes were exceptional, the Age Ebi Gyoza and the Torch Prawn Mentai Nigiri remain my absolute favorites. The unique combination of flavors and the meticulous preparation made them truly memorable.
Despite being the last customer, the service was impeccable. The staff remained attentive and ensured a pleasant dining experience throughout.
My late-night visit to Shin Sushi SS2 proved to be a truly rewarding culinary adventure. The quality of the food, coupled with the excellent service, made the wait worthwhile. I highly recommend this gem to any...
Read moreVERY POOR SEQUENCING ORDER MANAGEMENT
Shin Zushi has always been my favorite Japanese restaurant. However, my recent visit left me with a very disappointing experience.
Upon arriving at the restaurant alone around 8:30 pm, I queued for a seat. To my dismay, they allowed people in pair who arrived after me to be seated first. When I inquired, the staff informed me that they had FORGOTTEN about me and let the other customers entered already!??! Despite my frustration, I decided to wait.
Finally, when it was my turn to be seated, I ordered a sushi platter and patiently waited. However, after long time my food haven’t served, I noticed that they started serving the table of five next to me, who had arrived after I did. I was confused so, I chased about my order, and only then was it served.
After finishing my meal, I voiced my concerns to a lady dressed in black attire, presumably the manager, at the counter. She checked the order time of that other table and indeed my order was placed BEFORE the other table. Then, she started to explain.
She attributed it to my order being a platter, which supposedly takes longer to prepare compared to the nigiri ordered by the other table. Yet, I observed that hot ramen and several sushi platters were served to that table while I waited!!! Furthermore, shouldn't my order have been prioritized regardless of its complexity??????
Clearly, the manager's explanation was unacceptable! What does it mean? just because I ordered a platter, so I had to wait for all the nigiri orders to be served before receiving mine? Clearly they have forgotten my order and deny to admit it! Just because I came here ALONE, so I should be excluded???
8:30pm+ started my queue, until 9:30pm+ still not manage to get my food?? No mood at all to eat when my...
