I recently visited Thai Geng and indulged in their "Pro Max Buffet," and it was a delightful and casual dining experience perfect for a group. If you're looking for a spot that combines the best of Thai BBQ (mookata) with an impressive array of fresh seafood, this is definitely one to consider.
The Star of the Show: The Seafood Tower! The moment the "Pro Max Buffet" seafood tower arrived, our eyes lit up. It's truly a sight to behold, generously stacked with a variety of fresh ingredients. We spotted large, succulent prawns, various types of mussels and clams, tender squid or octopus, and beautiful fresh scallops. What stood out was the quality; everything looked incredibly fresh, which is crucial for a good seafood experience. The top tier even had what looked like a mantis prawn or a large crab, adding to the grandeur.
Mookata Perfection: The core of the experience is, of course, the mookata setup. The grill in the middle allows you to sear meats to perfection, while the surrounding moat simmers with a flavorful broth, perfect for cooking all the fresh seafood and other buffet items. We particularly enjoyed grilling the thin slices of beef and pork. The versatility of being able to grill and boil simultaneously is what makes mookata so enjoyable.
Beyond the Seafood: While the seafood tower is a highlight, the buffet also offers a good selection of other hotpot and BBQ items. Various meat slices ready for grilling, an assortment of fish balls, tofu, and vegetables to cook in the soup, ensuring there was something for everyone.
Ordered the fried nuggets and moo ping as well and it’s just like made to order! Lovely side dishes.

Read moreTerrible and disappointing experience.
First of all, the food was just so-so and it doesn't tally with their price.
Second, the staffs were quite "well-trained". They tried to charge us RM20 per person for leftover food, even though we only left a very small amount food which was definitely less than 100g. Not sure whether they estimated the weight of the leftover food using naked eyes or they just charge the surcharge as long as there's leftover food, but ultimately it is just unethical to attempt to charge the leftover surcharge as they didn't approach our table to weigh the leftover food and hence failed to prove that our leftover food was indeed over 100g. Side note: While I understand the policy is fixed, but please apply common sense and flexibility la. This is not the way you do business la boss.
The worse thing is their "brilliant" solution where they offered to waive the surcharge if we give them a five-star review. Come on, the food and staff attitude doesn't deserve a five star and your "brilliant" solution is just too shallow. 🙂 It was your "brilliant" solution which triggered me to leave this review🙂
Anyways, although I heard that other branches are doing well, but I can say it's a big no-no for SS2...
