I am certain the name of this establishment is synonymous with good tasting roasted duck if you ask any local PJ folks. Today marked my second visit to this restaurant because I was curious as to how the taste has improved. If you are familiar with this part of the neighborhood, then you'd know that parking here is a day mare which was exactly why I came earlier to secure a spot and avoid the usual queues of customers at lunch hours. The menu here was simple as they only offer roasted ducks, vegetables, rice and drinks. I got the lower half roasted duck and a plate of blanched lettuce served with oyster garlic sauce. The vegetable tasted average but helped to add some fiber into an otherwise meat only meal. When the roasted duck was served, I was intrigued with the extra curled up strips of duck skin given which I believe was from the duck necks. Everyone would agree that a delicious roasted duck skin would be essential to the dish and the generous amounts of duck skin appeared to be promising. When I also noticed many patrons ordered portions of the lower half for themselves, I knew that the indications looked good. Anyway, I took some bites and I can say that if you're hoping for that crispy skin texture, this won't be the one. The skin was a little chewy but had a good smoky roasted flavor with a hint of nuttiness. The duck meat was not overly dry although it can be more moist. There was an ample amount of duck fat layer to enhance the texture and aroma of the roasted duck. The dish came with only a little bit of sauce in the plate which was a very salty, intense and savory rich essence with some herbal elements. They also served a tiny bowl of sauce which was similar to a toned down version of the salty essence. This sauce was more rounded in taste and provided that nice little herbal punch. The chilli sauce on the other hand gave a contrasting sweet and tangy plum and lime combination which was not exactly my favourite. The preserved vegetable soup here was quite commendable. The taste was sourish sharp and it helped to jolt up your appetite. Aside from the food, I was also pleased with the service attitude as generally the staff and lady boss seemed amiable. Overall, I would rate the taste of this famous roasted duck as above average. The fact that they only serve roasted ducks also limited one's options when...
Read moreThere is nothing short of good restaurants in PJ area for roast ducks. Within 500 metres radius in the vicinity of Seapark and Paramount alone, I can count on Loong Fong, Luck Kee and Sunrise for satisfying roast duck. Everyone has their own preference when it comes to roast duck so let's not argue on which is the best ok?
The story started when I was in the vicinity and since tummy was growling, I'd decided to try the famous Sunrise for the first time (guilty as charged!). It was just slightly over 12pm, and the queue had already started. The boss had to turn down some of the people as they make limited roast duck everyday - lucky for me, I managed to secure seats.
◾Roast duck - the lower parts were all but gone but I prefer upper part because I love duck breasts. Glistening skin with tender meat with herbal taste. Actually I prefer crispier skin but everyone has their own style so I'm not going to complain as the meat was seriously good. The minister said that the chilly sauce was good but I'm one who prefer to savour duck meat in their original taste. ◾soup - it was complimentary but what set it apart from others was the fact that the soup had this appetising sour taste that seemingly cut through the greasiness of the duck. ◾blanched vegetable drizzled with oyster sauce and fried shallots was a simply dish yet gave me much satisfaction.
My visit to Sunrise Duck was actually enjoyable partly because the young boss was quite friendly and approachable, that is, if he's not busy chopping duck. I requested for duck neck which he actually gave to me when...

Since we live in Selangor, so decided to have lunch at Sunrise Roast Duck in Sea Park. We love to eat this poultry dish.
Sorry to say the Roast Duck here was below expectations. Duck itself is not that flavourful and skin not so crispy. The rice served is plain white rice (not fragrant rice). Free soup is sourish-pepperish - it tasted a bit weird. Chilli also nothing special, I was expecting it to be really good since they charge RM1 for extra chilli.
Good points is that the duck sauce is nice cos it's got herbal taste (though diluted), and restaurant is clean and service is fast. I do notice there are regular customers eating and stall owner can even remember how the customer likes her drumstick "not" to be chopped into smaller pcs. 👍Personal touch.
We paid RM43 for half a duck, RM2 for each plate of plain white rice and RM2.50 for Chrysanthemum tea.
They are sold our for CNY eve on 21 Jan and owner mentioned they will reopen on "Chor 6" on CNY 2023.
Overall, there are better roast ducks in PJ / Selangor. I don't think will return unless we're in the area. Parking is hard to find so go early. If you want to tapau, bring your own containers cos there's charges for...
