The latest addition to the restaurant and bar scene in Damansara Perdana, Tao just had a “soft” opening recently. The menu is basically many Chinese favourites, “upgraded” to a modern take by its Chef, who has more than 20 years of culinary experience. It is a pretty extensive range of food and drinks, worth several visits to get a grasp of its wide offerings. The interior is interestingly decorated, giving one a chic, yet calm ambient, but surely be better appreciated after dusk, when the array of lightings is put on display. The seating is mostly 4 to a table, which coordinated colors; turquoise colored one for the low square tables on one side (which can be combined for larger parties) and different for the round tables in the middle and on the other side (low and higher bar seats). Service was prompt and friendly. No fussing around and assistance given when asked. We settled for the house special of Signature Tao Fried Rice, Ginger Onion Beef Koay Teow and the side of Choy Bo Egg. The fried rice has generous toppings of shrimp, squid, dried peach, raisins, walnuts and chopped scallions. Each spoonful is full of tantalizing flavors. It could do with a bit more wok hei though. The beef koay teow was well cooked, the soup was just about right, not too starchy. The noodle was surprisingly quite smooth and had absorbed the ingredients in the soup well. The beef was soft and not tough to chew. If I had to comment, it was that there be more ginger slices as the taste was not detected in the sauce. Not that it matters here, as the beef did not have any overpowering taste. The egg dish was just normal. Nothing exceptional. My partner said that, that was likely because the choy bo was soaked too long and had lost its “kick”! Go and dine now and enjoy 15% discounts on all items listed in the menu. The offer expires when it opens officially, expected to be in March. Still time to enjoy...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Tao Restaurant recently, and it was an experience worth sharing. The restaurant strikes a nice balance between being stylish and comfortable, making it suitable for both casual gatherings and slightly more special occasions. The menu offers a good variety of dishes, and while the pricing leans toward the middle to high range, I found the quality of the food justifies the cost. The dishes I tried were nicely presented, flavorful and well prepared.
One of the highlights of the evening was the live band. Their music added a warm and pleasant atmosphere without overpowering conversations at the table. It gave the whole dining experience an extra touch of charm, making it feel more memorable than a standard night out.
Service also stood out during my visit. The waiter attending to our table was attentive, friendly, and proactive in making sure I have everything I needed, from drink refills to food recommendations. That level of hospitality really makes a difference and shows how much the team cares about customer experience.
Overall, Tao Restaurant offers good food, welcoming service, and a lively yet relaxed vibe. Definitely a place I...
Read moreWow, Tao Restaurant & Bar really redefines luxury. Not only do they have beautiful décor and a fancy vibe, but they’ve also found a way to make basic drinking water a premium luxury item.
Walked in thirsty — silly me for expecting a simple bottle of normal mineral water like any other decent restaurant would offer. Nope. At Tao, you either go full atas with RM20 sparkling water, or you go thirsty.
I mean, why offer regular mineral water at RM3–RM5 when you can force people to pay RM15 to Rm20 for bubbles, right? Genius. Absolute hospitality innovation.
To the management: your place might be nice and "atas", but please don’t overdo the greed. Just because you're stylish doesn't mean you need to squeeze every sen from your guests.
Some of us just want a normal drink of water — not a sparkling bill shock. Bravo. Btw, my parents cursed the whole night for the water. Thank you for your kindness in serving us such a "Atas" water. Guess you only reply to those that gives positive reviews huh. Ive been waiting for an explanation but i guess you guys just couldn't be...
