Another favourite Nyonya spot of mine for over a decade. There are two dishes that are a must-have whenever I dine there: their Kerabu Paku (fern) and Kerabu Fish Skin. Unfortunately, my favourite kerabu fish skin has been discontinued since the MCO lockdown. Apparently, the fish skin supplier stopped making them as it is a tough and labor-intensive process to skin those fishes. Such a pity, because it's such an AWESOME dish… Perhaps there is a chance of a new supplier someday.
Their kerabu paku pakis is the best I've had among all Nyonya restaurants. Their sauce is unique and gets the tangy sourness to perfection with a hint of cincalok in it. Other popular dishes include the Coffee Ribs, Inchi Cabin Chicken, or fried taichi tofu. They have lunch sets during weekdays, and the Nasi Ulam is not bad too.
The owners are friendly, service is quick, and the prices are reasonable. It is clean, with air condition, slightly tight in space; if there's a way to improve the noise & echo level in that place, that would be the only thing. Perhaps more decorations to absorb sound ? 😊 I’ve been recommending this place to all my friends, and everyone has fallen in love with their food and returned as their fan.
This little restaurant gets busy from 7pm onwards, so either make reservations or get there early, especially on weekends. Situated on the bustling street of Chow Yang, finding a parking spot there during peak hours would be...
Read moreI had lunch there before, the food was alright.. I went there today to let my parents try and it was full, I told the cashier that there were 4 of us.. we were first in queue, the cashier told us that it would take 5 minutes to get a table and my reply was sure we'll wait.. as we waited, others don't queue.. there was a lady who just walk in and took the table that was just cleaned.. ok, I thought to myself maybe she was here earlier.. I waited, and the next customer came and just took the next available table... this restaurant has no system, they don't serve people who are waiting in line, no one came out to call the next customer to their table... but they have a menu and a bench for customers to sit, but if you sit there you might miss you table... when I confronted the cashier and told her that this restaurant doesn't have system on sitting customer, her answer was don't la like that..never stepping in this restaurant ever again because of their service really sucks... and I recommend if anyone who wants to try, only come if the restaurant is not full.. no matter how good they think their food is, service should be first.. my money has the same value same other customers......
Read moreRead about the good reviews and decided to try this restaurant out after eating pho at pho king. It did not disappoint. With our limited stomach, We only ordered 2 dishes, petai with prawns and fried chicken. The food was home cooked nonya style that brought back fond memories of my grandma’s food. Requested for sambal to go with the fried chicken and it was also good. Wish they could make the sambal spicier with some lime juice. For 15rm, we had enough petai with prawns to serve 2. Fried chicken was also 15 rm. The chicken was well marinated and fried nicely such that it was crispy on the outside but still juicy on the inside! It went perfectly with the chilli petai udang. If I live nearby, I may come like once a week cause it tasted like home. Ala carte items were not available on public holiday and weekends. We were left with less choices but it was more than enough for 2 of us to go home with...
