If you are lazy to read the reviews below, I would not recommend this hotpot, as it was very disappointing with regards to the value of the food, in relation to the quality and quantity paid for.
There are a few justifications for my rating, as I rarely give low ratings in general. First, the taste of the food is decent, and at a satisfactory level. The ingredients are fresh in general, despite the fact that it is "pretty empty" (my friends and I were the only ones in that shop during dinner hours) The soup base here, like what other reviewer says, it is not authentic with relatively localised flavours. The Mala and Pork Bone Soup is "just decent", its not unique nor is it extremely flavourful and tasty, quite tasteless, especially the Mala Soup, it is bland and not spicy.
Choice on the other hand, it is extremely limited. With Three Soup Base for you to choose from (one was not available, so just two left). Choice of meat is limited too unfortunately.
The main reason for my poor rating, is the value for money. Let's be really honest, the portion is extremely inadequate for the price paid, it costs RM118 for 2-3pax package (with service charge added, it is RM129) It is Definitely NOT Value for Money, the portion is small and "no offence", stingy. Furthermore, "no offence", the waitress is not honest. As one of my friend, is allergic to "pork", so we asked for an exchange for all the pork related items, and was promised for 1 extra portion of beef and chicken, in exchange for three pork items. When it came, only the chicken came, and the waitresses or owner, whoever it is, claimed that the Chicken is what it is worth the Three Pork related items excluded. I am extremely unpleased, as it was "promised" for the exchange as stated above, but came short of expectations and filled with excuses.
Due to this sole reason, I would Not Recommend any visitors to try out this hotpot. If you were to try out, it is only worth of a one time visit, for the sake of...
Read moreThe menu has improved with many varieties to choose from. I especially like that their basics are reasonable priced, for example "green knot" RM3 aka zero-calorie noodle is the cheapest I've found so far in Klang Valley. Even Sushi Zamai sells it as 3 pcs for RM5. The meatballs are big, with some label as "with feelings" (I think they might be wanting to say there's filling). I do wish they were not frozen upon serving.
The meat we choose was pork belly, beef and lamb which came as thinly sliced meat, fresh. The beef was a big thin slice just perfect for that quick hot dip.
I love that they don't charge for condiments (sauces) and it isn't just a pity few, there's more than 10 choices of sauces you can select and mix to create your own sauce. They have free ice-cream now too! (next to sauce counter).
Their soups are limited but they have the signature healthy pork bone soup which we loved. It's lighter and not as sugary / salty as other hot pot restaurants making it very easy to drink.
Everything is reasonably price except for meats which is on par with other premium hot pot places like Hai Di lao. Malaysians are spoiled for choice and ambiance, so this place may appear to be too simple for what you're paying.
Service wise, we were attended well and the crew were accommodating and friendly to us. We were even given takeaway containers as we were rushing for a work meeting and could not...
Read moreI honestly don’t understand how there’s so many 5 star reviews for this place. Only one table on a weekday night but service still quite slow. Ingredients come out one by one, not together.
Ordered mala and pork broth (RM38), soups are not bad. Lamb slice (RM29) very disappointed by the portion and appearance of this. No ice to chill, just a few pieces on a plate. Meat is tough also, not sure how fresh it is. Daikon/Radish (RM7) portion is okay, but the slices are so uneven, some slanted cuts, some as thin as paper….please learn from HDL, even pieces. Pure Fish Paste (RM29) really expensive for a filling tube of paste. Not really QQ, not worth to try. Also, found fish bone while eating. Chinese Tea (RM3) per cup, refillable.
Sauces is RM2 per pax, no notice, no inform. If you take they charge. And no more free ice cream as seen in other reviews.
My bill came up to RM130 for 2 person. Only 4 dishes. Don’t dare order too much because scared portion too big, but very small portion for the price. ChingQing HotPot in Kuchai Lama - same price, 2x portion. (Free tea, soda & ice-cream somemore)
Please don’t charge HDL price if you can’t provide HDL...
