Cham's Roast & Grill — Restaurant in Sabah

I dined in at Cham's Roast & Grill with family for Christmas Eve dinner. Upon reservation the establishment informed that we had 90 minutes to complete our entire meal to temporally accommodate for the second round of diners for the evening. We arrived to find tens of patrons waiting outside for takeaways. Other patrons were all families.

Unfortunately, the wait for mains was over an hour long. As everyone else arrived also at 6 PM (for the first slot) and had their orders keyed in almost together, the kitchen's modus operandi to push out each particular menu item simultaneously was clear. Every table that ordered, for instance, their signature homemade Spanish sausage, would receive it at the same time. The sausages lived up to the hype! They were juicy, flavourful and hinted clearly that they were indeed homemade. The owners personally and sincerely apologized when we remarked that the mains took a little longer than expected.

Their menu, though slightly on the limited side, offered interesting eats that were not so common around the city. I'm looking at you, Cham's Aglio Olio with Roast Pork. Restaurant was clean, bright, well ventilated and freezing cold. Cutlery provided were solid too.

Looking past the delayed arrival of orders, the quality of dishes were commendable. The execution of their main grilled or roasted meats was spot on, and the sides were decent accompaniments. The flavours, fragrances and textures succeeded in stimulating my inner foodie. Most of the sauces and gravies were well balanced.

I would describe their protein mains as 'protein bombs' due to the generous portion one would get from ordering such items. Expect to nutritionally obtain more than 50g of protein from each of the protein mains. I intentionally chose their grilled chicken breast to see how they could turn a least popular cut of chicken into something impactful. The result - a solid and delightful grill! The pineapple rings and pumpkin puree fitted nicely.

We completed the meal past our 90-minute limit, to find the next round of patrons waiting out. In summary, the long wait wasn't an issue as the quality of food and service made up for it. Makes me even wonder, why have we not patronized Cham's Roast &...

We went here around 6:00pm, we didn’t make a reservation but happy we got a table because we’re early. I suggest better make a reservation first if you’re planning to have dinner here, coz by the time we’re about to leave the restaurant is getting full already. It was cosy and quiet. The staffs were attentive but 1 of our order(grilled chicken) came out late, everyone finished their meals already 😆 would appreciate if they told us they forgot or what. We ordered chicken Caesar salad which is yummy! I wish the portion were bigger as prices are about rm30 and above. It’s all for single serving only.

We paid a total of rm130 good for 3 people. 3 meals with drinks + salad. We didn’t order either lamb or pork. So I would say it’s on slightly pricey side.

Chicken burger and lamb spaghetti were both delicious. Grilled chicken is a bit over-marinated, would be better if they add mashed potatoes on the side so can balanced-out the flavour.

Overall this restaurant is worth to try out if you are craving for some western food.

SERVICE : ZERO (0/5) Kopitiam has better service than here ATMOSPHERE: 1/5. WAITRESS CANT WAIT TO CLEAR OUR TABLES WHILE WE WERE EATING.

Came here recently in End of September. Ordered quite a number of food from their menu. While eating and waiting, notice 2 of our dishes weren’t out for 30 minute, turns out the waitress missed out our order. To our dismay, not even an apology, she told us we had 30 minutes to dine in until the next batch of customers arrives in 30 minutes. How am I gonna eat it in 30 minutes if it’s your mistake and are you sure the kitchen gonna cook it in 5 minutes time?

When the next batch of food arrives on our table, one of the waitress (old lady) began to clear all the plates, utensils, glass from our table, hinting us to leave. We have yet to start on our food and you’re clearing our tables???

Complain this issue to the lady boss, only “不好意思” x 7 times were feedback to us.（Direct translate to English: Excuse Me” ) Not even an apology, OVERALL, the service here is extraordinarily RUDE...
