NOTE: This review won't include price as I'm not the one who pays.
My family and I will have to go to airport for vacation and coming from Sungai Besar, Sekinchan is the first town en route to KLIA so we chose to have lunch here.
Now, as all of you might know, I'm a (severe) seafood allergies sufferer, and I don't usually visit seafood restaurants unless my dad pulls us in, so I wasn't expecting much that I can eat other than the samey steamed (non-fatty) fishes.
We waited for dishes while drinking their homemade sour plum juice, which has some questionable white stuff at the bottom of bottle, and I can't even shake it out! (Granted, I don't know much about sour plums so it's probably natural)
As per custom, diners will be served steamed white rice before any dishes come out first. I took a bite of that innocuous looking rice, and I was not in for a surprise.
It tastes like nasi lemak.
Seriously, they probably cooked it with coconut milk or some kind of broth, because you actually can taste the saltiness of it. The rice is IMO cooked with the right stickiness and softness, it's so good that by the time the first dish came I already finished half the plate.
And my dad, knowing my allergies, also ordered some more dishes I could eat; braised pork legs, steamed fish (with lime and onions by side), stir-fries cabbage with "kou rou" styled pork belly, and they all taste...
Read moreThis restaurant was a pleasant blessing in disguise on my family Sekinchan (and KL) trip! After ordering a spread for my family, there was a long initial (disappointing!) wait of around half an hour. However, it was worth that wait!
There were 8 dishes I ordered, but I'd only like to introduce 3 highlights:
Firstly, the sweet-n-sour crabs were meaty and juicy, with a eggy, tangy tomato sauce. It was almost an imitation of the Singaporean chili crab from where I lived, sans the spice.
Secondly, the cereal prawns, abeit shelled to my dismay, were crispily fried and were juicy on the inside.
Lastly, the soy sauce steamed fish head was larger-than-life, even larger than that of Singapore's curry fish heads that I've had numerous times.
Overall, it's an amazing lunch choice with a homey touch if you'd like to visit Sekinchan - just be ready...
Read moreThe last Chinese Restaurant along the road. Parking is very convenient unlike the rest of the restaurant where parking space is limited. Waiting time after you order would takes you approximately 2 hours for the food to be on your table, probably due to the exhausted cook during Labour Day. This place is only good for those whom have plenty of time and not rushing for a bite to fill up. Place is clean, staffs works very hard to keep customers occupied while waiting and price is average while taste is a bit dull. Will definitely come again to taste their food during the non...
