Rakuzen Gamuda Walk — Restaurant in Shah Alam

I’m a regular customer to this restaurant, the attitude of the staff have always bothered me. The food and others are all good. But the service, this lady with short hair, quite old, in white uniform, when taking our orders was squeezing her eyebrows together so hard that I think she might kill a fly with them. Yes, the restaurant was full at that time, and I totally understand u are tired and so, but that’s not how u treat ur customer. She even used a annoyed voice when I asked to change my rice to fried rice. Like “ change to fried rice?!” We told her to let us have the menu because another person is coming, and she still took the menu away with a totally worst attitude I’ve ever seen. The food is not consider cheap there, I’m not asking to be treated like a king or so, but a smile on the face or a more polite attitude will be really grateful. If I could give this place 0 star I would. I have such a profound love for Japanese food and yesterday was the first time I threw up my Japanese dinner because it was not fresh. I have been to numerous other Rakuzen branches, they have been good so far. So I’m not sure why this branch is such. We came in at 8.40pm, the were throwing things in the kitchen and you could hear the sound of the kitchen tiles being scrubbed while you were having dinner. It makes you think about what a crappy dining experience you’re getting for the price that you’re paying. The summer roll was not fresh, the salmon skin that we ordered was bareable because it came with sauce. The worst by far was Yakiniku, which was supposed to be grilled beef. But what was served to us tasted like boiled baby food. The beef was so tasteless. I think the edamame was the only thing that I could actually eat properly. [June 2023] The food quality didnt match with the ambience. Food quality is pretty standard. Nothing very wow wow. Just a casual normal sushi joint. Not too fancy priced. Good place for some basic sushi urge in comfortable place.

Ebiten roll/prawn tempura roll: tempura texture taste like post fried item. Az if fried and left for some time. A bit chewy and taste average.

Ebi bento set/ prawn tempura and beef rice set: pretty standard fried tempura covered with onion egg, drizzle with Japanese soy sauce. Didnt amazed me much. Quite similar like food court standard Japanese bento.
