Restoran Orkid Thai — Restaurant in Shah Alam

This shop is not so sincere. Last night I ordered fresh fish cook with steam Nyonya Style. They served the fish later and the taste was too sweet and the fish is not fresh. Supposed steam fish I expect them catch one from the fish aquarium. I did not notice anyone catch it because I just sit next to it.

Later, I asked the waiter about the fish was not catch fresh from aquarium and not nice to eat. They just answered the fish was slaughtered that afternoon due to preparing busy business at night. I find this is not a good explanation as the fish is really bad and tasted very sweet. I assumed they used a lot sugar to preserved the fish in fridge.

I only ate 30% of the fish and pay the bill. They didn't apologize, didn't compensate and billed me the full price with 5% service charge and 6% GST..damn frustrated 😡

Most of you praise the cooking is good because you ordered deep fried fish so you won't taste the different. Normally restaurant happy that customer order fried fish so they can serve you the fish that not so fresh. Either bought cheap from market or fish that dying in their aquarium. I learned it and next time make sure they catch from there. But not this restaurant anymore. Why they show you aquarium in the entrance to deceive customers but serve...

Situated across the shopping mall and in between the row of shop-lots, its ambiance is just like that as you can see. Ordinary dining area. Simple. Yet, the colorful umbrellas gave a nice touch to the downstairs dining area where we sat across the various types of seafood swimming in the tanks. These I was told can be bought back, also for the dishes you decide upon from their tattered menu.

Crab Soup, Chicken Thai Fried Rice, Nyonya fish and Red rubies. Lovely. Yum. Restoran Orkid I gathered has built its reputation as a halal dining spot primarily for Muslim customers. For me, I won't consider it as one of the best among the rest of the Thai restaurants I have tried before (Moom Sabai Klang, Salasabaii Cheras & Thai Thai Sunway Pyramid), yet, must be praised. The restaurant has 2 level, ground floor suitable for quick meal the environment not so comfortable and a bit stuffy, level 1 is fully air conditioned and comfortable. When we dine there we actually didn’t know they have 2 level and the waiter didn’t even tell us. 5 of us squeezed on the “biggest” table accommodating 4 chairs, surrounded by not-so-clean aquariums. We didn’t even have enough space to put all the food we ordered. Only after eating when making payment they told us can pay upstairs and I was like mehhhhh…. The food taste ok, Tomyam very nice. Other than Tomyam majority of the food are actually Chinese style. i would rather say its chinese restaurant than naming it thai restaurant. majority food we ordered taste good except the kerabu mango which taste too simple...
