For context, a group of me and a few friends came here for the first time after seeing positive views and social media posts. Not to mention you are rathed 5 starts, with a printed certificate of excellence displayed by the cashier for top rated coffee shop in Subang Jaya, by Top-Rated.online. The cafe was quiet with only a table of 3 people dining. There were 2 staff at the bar and spotted a third walking in and out of what seemed to be the kitchen.
Being a customer seeing and reading a cafe/restaurant with the name "...Specialty Coffee," I'd already assume that you'd have a variety of coffee bean options or brewing methods, but I was quickly disappointed after asking the barista, that there were only espresso based drinks. I odered an ice americano, and it's not really the type of flavour I'd drink. It was bitter, slightly burnt, and if a dark chocolate and roasted nuts notes is something you are looking for, then please do come. A few other friends odered ice lattes and flat whites, and they were disappointed too. The milk drinks were just as same as the americano but hints of sweetness from the milk, so props to the barista for not scorching the milk. Unfortunately, the flat white were capachinos with more than half a centimetre of foam, but nice art. Collectively, we didn't like the coffee, and for myself, I am not impressed. I later went up close to see the beans in the hopper and noticed that the beans were still oozing oils like they were freshly out roasted and wasn't properly left aside or in the bag to rest which explained why there was much crema on my iced americano, or the oder of water and espresson was mixed wrongly. I asked the lady at the counter at that time because the barista was busy making waffles, if I could see the bag for the beans they use. She replied, "Ask the barista." Out of courtesy for the lack of staff I chose not to because it was starting to get crowded.
There were other non coffee drinks odered, like chocolate, matcha, and one of the sodas. We understand that matcha is generally expensive, and the pricing here is considerably cheaper, but there was still a lack in matcha flavour, which was overpowered by the milk, and sk was the chocolate. The sodas were nice and refreshing. It is impossible to create new combinations of drinks, but the experience and feel the drink is crafted to be does show.
Overall, my honest opinion is that the name "...Specialty Coffee" is not an accurate representation of what you are, but it can and could be. For now, to me, you are just Jings Cafe.
I want and will come back. Not so soon, but I will be watching and earnestly waiting for...
Read moreCame here during weekdays with a friend to catch up on work and feel unwelcomed at 1st.
We wanted to sit and put all of our things 1st but was called to make an order immediately. I feel like that is quite a bad 1st impression for me. Ordered its americano and hazelnut latte. I find that the coffee here is truly nice despite the small size. Not for sharing, that's for sure.
We both wanted the mushroom carbonara; pasta hence I find that the portion is quite aplenty for 1 and it tastes quite alright however for its total price i prefer having this elsewhere. Service is alright as everything is mostly self-service hence I believe that the service charge and total price overall is quite high.
Ambiance is really nice, calm and peaceful. Perhaps, this is what we are all paying for?
Interesting features of many different types of japanese food and sets hence it would be nice if the place were to be halal certified. Numerous rooms for improvement.
I recommend the drinks but not the food. At...
Read moreFirst visit to this cafe on an early Sunday morning. Ordered hot Americano, hot flat white, salted egg croissant and tiramisu.
The Americano was bold and smooth, with a pleasant acidity that didn’t overpower. It’s a solid pick if you like your coffee straightforward and no-nonsense. The Flat White perfectly balanced espresso-to-milk ratio with right amount of foam.
The Tiramisu was light, airy and not overly sweet. You could taste the espresso in the soaked layers and balance mascarpone filling. Each bite was soft but held its structure, not too soggy or dry. A generous dusting of cocoa on top gave it a rich finish without overpowering the other flavours.
The Salted Egg Croissant with flaky pastry and warm salted egg filling that leaned towards savoury.
The ambiance was cozy with a minimalist aesthetic, nothing too flashy, just warm tones and soft music. Service was friendly and efficient.
Shall be back soon for the...
