FOLLOW UP REVIEW Last year I talked about how I enjoyed having that pan fried radish cake and shredded chicken porridge with salted egg and century egg from Luckbros Plus Puchong. So on Friday I decided to do a Grab to check out whether these dim sum dishes are still good.
Chicken Porridge with Salted Egg and Century Egg Still good, in an MSG (this is an assumption) kind of way. Again, my stand on MSG is always positive. I like the fact that every spoonful of porridge had shredded chicken/salted egg/century egg. There is no skimping on these condiments.
Glutinous Rice with Chicken I didn't quite like this one. It was very wet. I have never had such sloppy gluttonous rice before. It was also extreme on the sweet and savory end. But a nice touch was there's a whole salted egg yolk included and that's a plus. Also a first time as all the previous ones I had had never included a salted egg yolk. It's like eating a machang lo mai kai. But the sloppiness of it all just did not do it for me.
Pan Fried Radish Cake I'm glad that it's still so good. The pan fried outer layer is so crispy it was giving me crackling sound with each bite. Inside there's the familiar gooey softness of the radish cake that is imbued with that aromatic savoury goodness. I could eat this like a snack.
So yes, that porridge and radish cake are still good and I'm glad there is consistency at Luckbros Plus Puchong.
Luckbros Plus has a few hits and misses. Here is my long review:
Salted Egg Volcano Chicken Rice This dish was fried chicken that was overlaid with a deep orange color sauce. It tasted like any salted egg dishes so no unwanted surprises here - creamy with a mixture of sweet and savory taste. It came with half a salted egg. Now that was the surprise.
Australian Beef Noodle This is really Taiwanese style beef noodle with its dark soup that has that beefy goodness but veered towards the sweeter side of the taste. The beef slices are tender and partially cooked, the beef chunks are surprisingly easy to chew on but the beef balls are really a nope for me. Hard and hardly any beefy taste to them. The noodles was springy and it was good til the end without going soggy.
Mee Mamak Not exactly good with its strong curry flavor taste. Not sure why but this is not Mee Mamak taste that I am used to.
Century Egg Porridge This is surprisingly one of the better dishes with its maintained savoury taste in each spoonfuls. Not only that, there is a generous amount of shredded chicken in it.
Pan Fried Radish Cake This unassuming dim sum dish became the best of the night. Not powdery in the mouth and full of flavors with a slight crispness at the outset. It was yummy without any distraction from any chili sauce. In fact, it came without any sauces.
XXL Shirmp Siew Mai A highly popular dim sum dish in the menu. You get a middle sized (not really XXL in relative term) shrimp resting on top of a bigger than usual siew mai. I didn't find this dish in every way special in taste except for its appearance. The siew mai does taste good and that was it.
Crab Siew Loong Bao (XLB) This has got to be the worst. The XLB skin was thick, hard and dry. Its only having grace was the filling did taste like there was crab meat in it.
ABC Again, looks good but pretty run of the mill in terms of taste. It will no doubt satisfy your cravings for ABC if you have to consume one. For that, it does the job.
Its menu goes on and on with a lot more dim sum, toasts, western dishes and local dishes for you to try. So one visit may not give you the full picture. Even the drinks are varied in selection with two notable ones - 5 types of coffee from the different states of Malaysia and a Luckbros 3 in 1 with Kopi, Teh and Cham in isolation...
Read moreI recently had the chance to visit Luckbro Puchong, with a group of 6 adults, 1 toddler and an infant. As I've been here before, I was looking forward to a comfortable and clean dining experience, which the restaurant thankfully delivered. However, my enthusiasm was somewhat dampened by the average service quality and tasteless food
The signature Nasi Lemak was a highlight, but the inconsistent food quality and slow service were major letdowns. We had to wait for an inordinate amount of time for our dishes to arrive, and even then, they didn't all come out at the same time. Some of us had finished eating while others were still waiting, and this was after we had to remind the staff multiple times. The price range, starting from RM15, is reasonable, but the overall experience wasn't great.
As a parent, I was also disappointed by the limited and unhealthy kids' meal options, which made it challenging to find something suitable for my child. I had to opt for an adult meal instead, hoping that someone would be able to finish the rest of it.
I sincerely hope that the restaurant will take my feedback to heart and revamp their kids' menu to make it more appealing and nutritious. With a bit of improvement in service and menu planning, Luckbro Puchong could truly live up to its potential and provide a more enjoyable dining experience for...

KH Guide & Rating: • Accessibility: ★★★★☆ (Private parking available) • Cleanliness: ★★★★☆ ½ • Ambience: ★★★★★ (Air-conditioned with nice décor) • Food Quality: See details for each dish: • Cendol: Above average, with a strong, authentic gula Melaka aroma. However, the cendol pieces were tiny, and the portion size was below the market average. • Curry Mee: Flavorful and savory, though slightly oily. The yellow noodles were a bit firm and lacked smoothness. The chicken seemed to have been added separately rather than cooked in the curry, as it remained pale instead of absorbing the rich curry color. • Waffle: Quite delicious overall, but the corn used was from a canned source. • Pricing: ★★★★☆ (Reasonable) • Attentiveness: ★★★★☆ ½ • Would visit again? Yes, to try other dishes on the next visit!
2nd visit today : tried their char Siew pao, 叉燒was just nice, not too sweet. 包was fluffy and no smell of uncooked flour. nasi lemak was average, rice a bit too wet Pinaaaple juice was excellent, a must try. Looks like Sarawak pineapple and it was Sweet (with sugar added ) and not that sour...
