Update : Jan 2025 Prices have risen and is so much closer to that of a Café. Quality and taste seemed to have deteriorated, mainly due to change of operators. Food portion has shrunk too.
Just another option, maybe viable to some.
This used to be one of the more comfortable Kopitiams around.
There were adequate spaces between tables. This allowed a worker with a trolley to clear and clean tables. This was one of the better managed establishment of this sort but slowly losing it's edge.
Update : 5th June 2022 The new White Curry Noodles is good, definitely worth a try. Flavorful curry without being too sweet.
Update : 23rd April 2022 The popular Curry Noodles stall which was operated by a local couple has moved away. Managed to find out from this couple that they have been asked to leave due to it's popularity. This couple has moved to Everyday Food Court. The management wanted to operate the Curry Noodle stall themselves. I wonder if it's a norm for a Kopitiam to take over a popular stall.
This particular stall has been replaced by foreign workers hired by the management. I'm not against foreign workers as long as quality and taste are not compromised too much.
Modus operandi has probably changed due to the rising stall rental cost. It's now about RM 55 to 65 per stall depending on size, I was told.
This eatery is definitely still a viable option with ample choices and relatively greater comfort. The are still many stalls serving great tasting food.
Update: 13th Dec 2020 Tuck Kee Fried Mee is here ! Claimed to be a branch of the famous noodle based eatery from Ipoh. Tried it, it was good.
We have been here a number of times for either Sunday brunch or lunch. Getting a parking space was not really that difficult during these hours.
Practically all the stalls that we have tried were above average, some of them quite good. With more than 20 stalls to choose from, we were definitely spoilt for choice.
Highly recommended would be the Ginger Wine Rice Noodles (Bee Hoon) but sometimes the noodles can be a little soggy. We ordered with the rice noodles cooked with mushroom and fish, fresh ingredients and tasty. The taste was enhanced with chopped ginger and ShaoXing wine and not actually Ginger Wine per se. It was delicious. Must try this, of course, one can asked for less or a little more wine. Worth the price of RM 9.00 per plate.
Fried Kueh Teow and Fried Glass Noodle were above average, should try these too. Curry noodles seemed to be the best seller here. Two huge pots of curry were almost sold out when we were there for lunch on Sunday. Rich and creamy enough. On a personal level, I would have preferred that the curry be cooked with more coconut milk which would further enhance the taste.
Hakka Lei Cha would be another dish worth trying, a healthy and delicious dish to start a day. Porridge was above average.
Wanton noodles would also be above average. I ordered mine with Char Siu, Roast Pork and Wanton, dry type. Char Siu was tasty but a little tough. Roast Port was good enough.
Wanton with soup was delicious enough with a pleasant hint of anchovies in the soup. Noddles texture was alright but I would have preferred it to be cooked a little longer, need to remind them the next time. Maybe a little sesame oil would have improved the taste a bit more.
Tea and toast would be slightly above average. A little stingy on the butter though and sweet enough with coconut jam. The bread was fluffy and chewy, quite chewy actually, not crumbly. Definitely crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
Noodles with Vinegar Trotter was a hit and miss. The noodles was very good but not the side Vinegar Trotter. The gravy was too diluted with only vinegar taste detectable. Should order this item with other sides.
Items were reasonably priced.
Hygiene wise and cleanliness, much better than most kopitiams of similar type.
No longer one of the favourite places for our Sunday's breakfasts...
Read moreThere are currently four outlets in the Big Family kopitiam chain. All of them operate out of multiple shop lots with huge seating capacity.
This one here in Puchong occupies four connecting shop lots - three of which are air-conditioned.
This outlet operates from 7am-930pm everyday unlike the SS15 outlet which operates from 7am-230am.
For this review, I ordered a mee goreng sotong (RM12) from the Georgetown Mee Mamak stall and one iced coffee (RM3.50).
Bala, the owner cum chef of the Georgetown Mee Mamak stall hails from Georgetown, Penang. I was told his family runs four mee mamak stalls in Georgetown, Penang.
Bala, an amicable gentleman, started the business four years ago in Subang Jaya. First foray was in SS14 before moving to SS19. He shifted here three months ago, operating from 9am-9pm daily except Tuesdays (stall closed but kopitiam open).
His mee goreng is of the type which I fancy - wet style. May be a tad too sweet for some folks but I'm okay with that.
Sotong is not the usual mamak sotong though. I'd have preferred those marinated in dark red colour sauce.
Iced coffee was kaw and creamy. Good!
Final Comment: Although the premises can be considered clean, there are still flies swarming around. So, beware of unwelcome annoying guests gatecrashing your...

22/4/25 Wed Happy with the friendly staff at the western food today. Fish and chips RM15 with crispy, well seasoned fries, sweet half corn, 2 large pieces of white fish. Nice tartar sauce, can ask for chilli sauce packets. Creamy mushroom RM9 ( prefer the bacon, mushroom needs salt) Fried Kuay teow RM9 big amount , value for money, 4 prawns. tastes like Singapore bihun but with kuayteow.
14//5/25 4.30pm Monday Korean not open. today the pasta stall is manned by an unfriendly Chinese guy in a bad mood. Pasta Special Bacon RM14 Carbonara Mushroom RM12 Portion was way smaller, still al-dente but the special bacon was too salty, too 🥵 many chili flakes.
Chinese tea ice RM1 Takeaway Rm1.20
11/5/25 6.33pm Big Family in Puchong looks way dirtier than the SS15 outlet. Muddy puddles on the road. In the enclosed aircon area, the air smells like faecal matter. Expected food to be the same but Soo surprised the pasta is delicious. Al-dente, amazing value. Carbonara bacon RM13 yum Spaghetti Bolognese RM13 ( thick, tasted expensive but too sour for me) Will definitely reccomend and want to try the rest.
Has anyone tried the...
