I recently had lunch at Margaret Yong Tau Fu in USJ14 with two others, and the overall experience was somewhat mixed. We ordered a claypot yong tau fu (11 pieces), 3 chicken wings, 3 portions of rice, 3 barley pumpkin drinks, 3 pieces of fried bean curd, and 2 pieces of brinjal, which came to a total of RM81.50.

Price: The price is on the higher side for yong tau fu, but the portion sizes were generous, especially the yong tau fu itself. However, given the taste, it might not be the best value for money.

Taste & Quality Yong Tau Fu: The pieces were large, but the taste was just acceptable. It didn’t live up to some of the glowing reviews I’ve read. The meat filling was a bit tough, which detracted from the overall experience. Fried Chicken Wings: These were over-dried and too salty for my liking. The texture was quite disappointing. Barley Pumpkin Drink: Extremely sweet. If you prefer your drinks less sweet, this might not be for you.

Conclusion: Margaret Yong Tau Fu offers decent-sized portions, but the flavors didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The yong tau fu was okay but not exceptional, the chicken wings were overly dry and salty, and the barley pumpkin drink was too sweet. Considering the price, I expected better quality. I wouldn't be rushing back, but it might be worth a try if you're in the area...

This long time Yong Tofu restaurant around the USJ area is now almost a landmark and still continues to draw in a steady crowd during lunch and dinner times. The restaurant has long since expanded with an additional air conditioned seating section by the side. What sets this place apart from the other Yong Tofu places is the stuffing used is a hybrid proprietary mix of seasoned minced pork and fish paste which is unique to this shop. You can make an order for an assortment of these stuffed tofu and various vegetables in various sized portions.

Service may take some time if you walk in during their peak periods when almost all tables are taken up. The portions are decent and the soup used with the stuffed ingredients had a surprisingly good umami mouth taste and feel indicating relatively small amounts of MSG seasoning used in comparison to more mainstream Yong Tofu eateries. All in all the choices may feel limited but they're exactly what you want in an honest and decent meal. Highly recommended...

Don't let the unassuming facade fool you – Margaret Yong Tau Fu is a true hidden gem! Tucked away under an old apartment block, what looks like a small shop front opens up to a surprisingly spacious and comfortable air-conditioned dining hall behind. It's a much more pleasant dining experience than you might initially expect. While the yong tau fu is a bit pricier than average, you absolutely get what you pay for. The pieces are generously sized and incredibly fresh, making it well worth the cost. A unique and much-appreciated touch is that the yong tau fu is served in a claypot, which brilliantly keeps the soup piping hot throughout your entire meal. It really enhances the dining experience! I also tried the pumpkin barley drink, which was quite nice, though for my personal taste, it was a touch too sweet. Overall, I highly recommend Margaret Yong Tau Fu for delicious and fresh yong tau fu in a surprisingly comfortable setting. It's definitely a spot...
