Visited Akkas Curry House while in the area visiting friends. Parking was a hassle — took two rounds circling due to the congestion, though eventually managed to find a spot.
The restaurant offers standard Indian fare, but the dining experience left much to be desired. There’s no air-conditioning, and on a hot, humid day, it got quite stuffy. We were seated facing the kitchen counter, and the warm air from there made things even more uncomfortable. The layout felt tight and cramped, making it hard to move around.
Accessibility is another concern — the entrance is partially blocked by a long serving counter, leaving very limited space for entry. I noticed an elderly customer struggling to make their way in, which was concerning.
As for the food, it was average. The plain nasi lemak with fried egg, rava dosa with white coconut chutney and sambar, and appam were decent but lacked depth in flavor. The chutney and sambar were particularly diluted. The sambal for the nasi lemak had a slightly sour taste, which wasn’t very appealing. The bru coffee with fresh milk was also underwhelming — too diluted and lacking the bold flavor you’d expect.
Service was acceptable but slightly chaotic, possibly due to the crowd and tight space. Overall, it's your typical Malaysian Indian restaurant, but nothing really stood out to make the...
Read moreThis is an outdated review (didn't get posted earlier): First time dined in this restaurant on 29.12.2022. Received good reviews from a few friends. They were right. The food really has home cooked taste. However, the seatings are quite congested due to space restrictions. It cost RM9 for vegetarian meal with 2 veggies, tauhu sambal and appalam that was given in a plastic bag with 3 pcs inside (like Mamak shop). It was quite unusual in Indian restaurants. Not sure whether the appalam is charged separately. Anyway, it's worth dropping to try their varieties of vege and non-vege dishes. Courteous staff and...
Read moreIt is easy to miss this gem as the restaurant is not big. We went just after lunch time so there was plenty of empty seats and some of the dishes have been sold out. However the banana leaf meal that we took was superb - the vegetables dishes was good. Also noticed that they don't cook in bulk - they cook just enough for the meal time and then they start cooking again which means the dishes are fresh & hot. Highly recommended if you want a home cooked Indian meals but be ready for long queue especially during peak hours. Alternatively pack...
