Thong Kee which originated from Bentong, Pahang, has steadily expanded to a chain of eleven kopitiams with the latest being Thong Kee Plus on Level 2 of TS Law Tower in KL near TRX.
Ten outlets in the Klang Valley plus the original pioneer shop in Bentong, Pahang. Small town kopitiam operator which has definitely done well by venturing into the big city with a refreshing concept.
This is the third Thong Kee outlet that I've tried and it's the one with the least variety of food (least number of food stalls) compared to the other two which I visited earlier, i.e., Glenmarie and Sea Park.
During this particular visit, I had a bowl of curry mee (RM10.50) and a large 700ml iced coffee (RM4.90).
Curry mee was good but the iced coffee even though rich and delicious, had an unpleasant albeit subtle, stale coffee taste. The source could likely be from an overused / not properly washed coffee cloth strainer. Time to replace! But then again, I'd very well be wrong.
Had wanted to order Wong Zhi's kai see hor fun but was put off by the colour of the poached chicken which appeared to be dark in colour. Definitely unusual! Didn't want to take any risk.
The system with Thong Kee is such that the staff will assign you a table with a number first, then you proceed to the beverage counter to order and pay for your drinks which will be served to you later at your table.
Food-wise, just order from the individual stalls and pay them separately.
Do not be daunted by the queue you see because most of the time, these are the folks queuing to buy their drinks. The queue is quite fast moving as there are several cashiers attending to customers simultaneously.
Also, expect a group of delivery riders at the entrance waiting to pick up their orders.
Quite a crowded place with good kopitiam vibes that's to be expected of Thong Kee.
Toilet Score: Usual kopitiam standard.

Read moreWalk in to place order for take away but only accept cash. Maybe consider having any e-wallet to ease customer payment process (contactless payment due to covid?) Because of this I order online coz can pay using credit card (I have short of cash in wallet) Placed order online with order id 285, but the number never reflect on this paging board. So I thought maybe not so fast la. Waited 5 mins, still don’t see my number at the ‘preparing column’, decided to comply with the 15 mins pick up timing, just to be fair. 15 mins up. My 285 number still not in the board. Something strange. So decided to enquire at cashier. Chinese lady not really happy to assist, divert me to pick up counter. Pick up counter foreign boy was very efficient to hand me my order when I say 285. I asked how come my number not on the board, chinese boy said got. Hmmmm? Took my food and drive home.. only to realized my number on their ordering system is 485. 🙄🙄🙄 system glitch huh? How convenient. Fried har mee using Lai fun. Not sure if this is the standard noodle. Taste wise great. But noodle texture doesn’t match with the sauce. Generous amount of prawns. 3-in-1 muffin. Great for afternoon snack. Slightly chewy muffin with a slice of ham and fried egg. An option to top up a slice of cheese would be bonus! 😍 Hot beverage is securely sealed to avoid spillage. Awesome idea. But a little too sticky to peel off
Overall: Acceptable for the price paid. Will I be back? Yes. Not that soon… when I have the cravings and they hype about Thong Kee...
Read moreA typical yet delicious Sunday's breakfast for Malaysian. The food was yummy, especially the yong tau foo. We have also ordered kaya butter toast, chicken hor fun, half boiled egg, coffee+tea cham, and their signature coffee.
For yong tau foo, we ordered fucuk, fried fish paste, fresh fishball, and meatballs (forgot to take pic). Love the crunchiness of fried fish paste from the outside and soft chewy texture inside, but the fucuk a bit too oily. The half boiled egg and toast were good too. The chicken hor fun has plenty of chicken after adding on (RM13). It is quite worthy imo.
However, the shop was too hectic when we arrived. The queue was so messed up that we were assigned to the same number as someone else, and we had to requeue. The staff messed up our coffee order too. We ordered a cham coffee with less sugar and a signature coffee without sugar, but the signature coffee came sweet. Later on, we realized in the receipt, it is written both coffees are cham, but when the waiter handed us the coffee he stated one is signature and another one is cham 😂 so we just buy a new one. The shop might need some improvement in...
