Washoku Japanese Restaurant • Bandar Kinrara 5 — Restaurant in Subang Jaya

I usually go to this restaurant from time to time as it's the only Japanese restaurant in BK 5 (that I'm aware of). It used to be decent, but for this night, around 8:30 pm. I had a terrible experience. I don't usually give low score reviews for restaurants, but there are a few things that happened that forced me to write this review: The salmon for the dinner set meal looked so sad and had that fishy taste (not fresh).

The butter fish sushi was again, sad looking and not fresh.

The nabeyaki soba with the tempura prawns was so-so. The prawns were not fried properly.

The two waiters (Kim & Anish) with poor service skills. I can understand that they're not good at English or Bahasa, but at least ask using simple English or Bahasa before taking the ginger back (to be fair he allowed me to take a bit of ginger, went to clean the other table, and returned asking if I'm done with the Wasabi and soy sauce). The funny thing with Anish was that he came to collect my order sheet and reminded me of the last call when the kitchen was already closed and all the staff was waiting by the door to leave. It would be nice to also serve the food gently.

The table was a bit oily. It wasn't that bad, but I just thought of mentioning it. And one more thing, please either keep the door closed to prevent cold air from escaping or turn up the air-conditioning because I was sweating in...

Edit 29th June: came back for dinner. Ordered the same kakiage and ebi gyoza garlic fried rice but it was horrendous. The fried rice tasted stale and mushy. Not sure they changed the cook or what but everything tasted off. Not coming back again.

First time here and was only expecting similar standard to Sushi Mentai but I was glad to be proven wrong as it was better than Sushi Mentai. Ordered healthy pumpkin soup rice set, Ebi gyoza garlic fried rice set, yasai kakiage, Tori karaage, chuka idako, chuka wakame and Inari sushi. Total damage RM81.30.

Everything was good but the yasai kakiage and pumpkin soup was the highlight for me. Only 2 complain would that food takes a while to be served and the pumpkins served served was missing shittake mushroom and corn which was clearly shown and described in the menu. Had to ask the waitress about the missing ingredients for them to rectify it.

Other than that it was an enjoyable dining experience. Will come back to try other items...

Food: 1/10 very small, disappointed portion, serve me 3 small potato and 2 small carrot with rice comes with long hair…the sushi rice is sticky and wet too…Hooray!

Food cleanliness: -1/10 I got 2 dish comes with hair and when pulled out the hair, it’s long and sticks with the rice..Hooray!

Service:1/10 the seniors served u like u owe them and ignored u even they saw u, the 1 point is for the juniors who able to help although I need “remind” them twice only able to get my cutleries while aint cutleries suppose to serve together with the dish? Hooray!

Environment:5/10 Still well maintain but staff and environment cleanliness are not as good as used too..Hooray!

Price:1 From reasonable to unreasonable because it’s Not Not Not fine with the quality like this...Hooray!

Overall: Used to be fav spot but my family will skip this as there are more better choices and quality in Puchong and Bukit Jalil...
