Yuu Had Me at Reasonable Prices and Tasty Sushi
Tucked away in Subang, Yuu Japanese Cuisine is a little gem that proves you donât need to remortgage your house to enjoy a solid Japanese meal. Itâs hands down one of the most reasonably priced Japanese spots in the area â and thankfully, the taste lives up to the price tag (and then some).
The menu leans towards the pork-free side, but yes, thereâs a limited alcohol selection if you're looking to sip something chilled with your sashimi. The food itself? Fresh, flavourful, and satisfying â whether you're diving into sushi, slurping up udon, or going for a hearty donburi.
Service is refreshingly good â the kind thatâs prompt, polite, and doesnât make you wave your arm like youâre hailing a taxi. And while the place can get quite crowded during weekend dinners (and even some weekday evenings), that's really just a testament to its winning formula: good food, good service, and very good prices.
Parkingâs a breeze, too â street parking is available and fairly easy to find, though do keep some coins or your e-wallet handy if youâre visiting during the day.
All in all, Yuu delivers a consistently pleasant dining experience without breaking the bank. Go early, bring your appetite, and let the crowd be your proof that youâve...
Read moreLast night, I visited this restaurant with my wife to have a set meal. The sushi here was really delicious. The way the dishes were prepared was also very good. The miso soup was served piping hot, which I really appreciated. The only thing I would point out is that it took about 30 minutes for the food to arrive,
which was a bit disappointing. The sushi looked as if it had been made by a real Japanese chef, but I felt the rice was a little too hard. That being said, the overall balance of the set meal was excellent. It came with rice, soup, salad, meat, and chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), and both the portion and variety were very satisfying. Thanks to this restaurant, thereâs no need for me to go all the way to Mont Kiara for Japanese food anymore. I sincerely hope they wonât reduce the cooking time at the expense of quality. I truly look forward to them continuing to serve carefully prepared dishes. Iâm very grateful that we were able to enjoy such a pleasant...
Read moreWent on Sunday when they were doing a huge promo with Grab. It was a pretty good deal for what it is. But the chashu fried rice tasted quite bad. The rice didnât feel like it was Japanese and it was quite mushy. Don't think fried rice should be mushy. It was actually quite okay the last time we went when they were not doing the promo.
We also ordered the soft shell crab maki. The rice was crumbling off the maki when we picked it up with chopsticks. Thatâs not authentic Japanese anymore.
The yasai itame tasted horrible.
We ordered the salmon sashimi belly and the chirashi bowl too. Never tasted such tasteless sashimi. No salmon, or any fresh seafood flavour at all. Just tasted like nothing.
Lastly, we had the salmon teriyaki set. Loved the option to change from rice to salad. But the salmon had no taste at all. Either the salmon is super bad quality or the kind that has been frozen for too long and had lost all its flavour.
The grilled squid was...
