My spouse dined here once with his business partners and had such a pleasant experience that he wanted to bring me along this time.
As it was my first visit on 26/2/25, I was pleasantly surprised when I stepped in—the warm welcome from the staff and the cozy, modern Muji-style interior made it hard to believe this was a Hakka cuisine restaurant!
The menu suited my taste perfectly, and I was especially drawn to the steamed minced pork with pickled vegetables. Without hesitation, I ordered it, as it reminded me of my grandmother’s cooking—one of my all-time favorite dishes.
We also ordered a set meal featuring salted baked chicken with herbs, along with an à la carte serving of braised Hakka four treasures. To complete our meal, we had brown sugar ginger tea and soy milk. The brown sugar ginger tea paired perfectly with our dishes—I loved its strong ginger flavor, which made it extra comforting, especially on a rainy day. If my stomach had room, I would’ve happily had a second glass!
What truly impressed me was the restaurant’s core value of 善 (kindness). They donate a portion of their earnings to those in need—a beautiful initiative! Plus, they emphasize no MSG, less oil, and less salt, which aligns with the kind of restaurants I always seek out.
Overall, the food was above average, with the braised Hakka four treasures standing out, especially with its flavorful bean paste gravy.
However, my spouse didn’t feel well after eating the steamed minced pork. He found the quality of the pork unpleasant, which made him feel nauseous. It would be great if the restaurant could check the freshness of the ingredients.
With this price range, I’m quite satisfied with both the food quality and the comfortable dining environment. We were also lucky to arrive before the dinner rush and secure a table, as seating is quite limited. I’d recommend making a reservation to avoid disappointment.
The food took longer to arrive than usual, likely due to their busy service, especially with many customers ordering takeout. That said, the wait was worth it! Just be sure not to come on an...
Read more4.7 stars with 1.1k reviews attracted us to this Hakka restaurant that only opened a few months ago. After visiting, I strongly believe the high rating is mainly due to the free dessert redemption offered to customers who leave a review (P/S: we didn’t review on the spot for the free dessert).
A noteworthy initiative of theirs is donating RM5 to the charity for every ala carte dish sold, which I assumed this factor mainly contributes to the higher price point of each dish to cover both costs and donations.
We ordered two sets, one ala carte dish, and two herbal teas, totaling RM95.70 for two people. While the prices are higher given the portion sizes and types of food, it's debatable whether the charitable aspect justifies this.
Hence I’m giving a 3-star rating just purely based on taste, service, and atmosphere, excluding price elements. The Braised Pork Belly with Black Fungus and Crispy Pork Belly with Fermented Bean Curd were mediocre; their flavours were not as strong as we prefer. The Drunken Chicken with Ginger was particularly disappointing - too watery with a lack of yellow wine, resulting in an extremely bland taste.
On a positive note, both the service and atmosphere were good. Unfortunately, the taste did not meet our...
Read moreWas here at for lunch on a weekend. I first tried them on Grab and liked their Lei Cha, so decided to dine-in this time. The steamed chicken & scallion I had was very, very salty; the only saving grace was the ginger dip. Sweet & sour pork was nice, generous with the veggies.
I also found their menu a bit misleading; eg. 1: The soup on the menu looked like it had lots of ingredients but the soup received was really just clear soup with a few pieces of cabbage. While I understand that ‘images shown are for illustrative purposes’, but this felt really misleading. Menu also showed pickled cucumbers (which would’ve helped with the mad salty dish) but we got a cube of cold tofu. While we don’t mind, would’ve been nice if the waiters informed us beforehand. Eg. 2: We ordered what was labeled as ‘fresh orange juice’ for RM9.90 but we got a diluted cordial orange drink instead. I raised this with the waiter & he offered to cancel it off our bill, which we appreciated.
Reserve some time to find a parking spot, it is Taipan after all. And parents with strollers, it’s quite a crammed space so take that into...
