The foods that we ordered do not live up to the expectations for the Valentine's Day menu course. We thought we would try the other menu option, but it's not available. Alright, we can understand that since they have set a menu for Valentine's Day. So, our main course was special lamb kebob, which came along with veg cheese, a special soup, and chocolate dessert. My rate for each (all came with a small portion except for sepcial lamb kebob- medium portion): Special lamb kebob: 3/10 Veggie cheese: 3/10 special soup: 5/10 chocolate dessert: 5/10
Plus, with the drinks: hot chocolate: 6/10 iced latte caramel: 5/10
Total price: RM165.82 serv charge: RM16.58 SSST 6%: RM9.95 total:: rm192.35 (for one person one set) imagine two persons+??
A service charge is a rob; it does not deserve to be charged that much. The customer service is not attentive or has communication skills; we are first-timers at this restaurant, so we sit ourselves down and wait for someone to give us the menu, but no one is attentive enough to realise we are sitting down; no one comes or looks at our table unless we call for them first; when they do come, they keep saying "wait" or "wait" or giving hand gestures to "wait," but somehow they can serve other tables. Also, we told the waiter we would order again later if the foods were not enough, and he said later could not because the last call was at 10:30 p.m. but the board they are showing in the restaurant stated they are open until 12 a.m.? Last call should have been at least at 11:30 p.m then, right? 🙂🙂 Any restaurant should give a good first impression, because from there only, it matters whether the customers will come back or not. Once the restaurant gives us a bad impression, it makes us doubt coming back. I'm disappointed with the food's taste and still can accept the customer service if they are doing an excellent job, but it is totally regretful. First Valentine's Day dinner are ruined by the food, which is kind of sad about it. Even though we finished all the foods, since we know the prices are expensive. There is always room for improvement, and I hope this restaurant can improve. Look over the service charge, the food taste, and the tablecloth as well. Our table's cloth is dirty (forgot to mention it), but I did not complain about it on the spot because they probably forgot about it, etc. Yet others should have given us a good impression, which, however, turned out to be otherwise. Nvm. we would never come back to this restaurant any time soon. Perhaps in...
Read moreFirst time here after they've renovated. It's no longer a fully Spanish tapas bistro diner but more of a fusion of Spanish, Indian and Italian kind of place. Abit of a change but in another way, a new experience I guess.
Parking. Only for the patient (esp during meal hours). Alternatively, the building beside them (Conlay?) offers space but not all the time (have to check with them, something about the timing etc).
Food. Variety is as many as their before, but whatever we order came out great. We were 1 of the 3-4 occupied table so food came out pretty quick (except the forewarned paella which still came out faster than their, iirc, 30min request). We ordered gratinated eggplant, mariscos paella, churos, lamb biryani with rice, BBQ chicken pizza, tandoori chicken tikka, chicken wing, and another item I forgot, thanks to the wine or margarita or sangria, I forgot. Taste wise, nothing disappointed us, 3 fussy kids included.
Ambience. Much nicer, better lighting, and spacious even between each tables. 2 entrances into the diner, interesting. Indoor is cool and cosy, outdoor has some 'view' and plenty of fan. Rain still hits those sitting at the end (furthest from door). Safety glass quite high so 'relatively' safe for kids 🤞🏻. There's also a private closed section suitable for function, able to comfortably seat 40-50 pax (maybe more) via booth shaped seating/table in a u-shaped arrangement. Iirc as per staff advise, possible to arrange for screen (karaoke, movie, etc) within said room.
Staff and service. Good and good. They're around, not hovering. They're helpful, while not intrusive. They're friendly and knowledgeable, and not clueless and arrogant.
This review is given by me (regular dad), 1 awesome wife (she's nearby) and 3 fussy kids upon their insistence. Nonetheless, you guys...
Read moreHad a dinner and drinks last weekend. The flavors of the food was perfect - fresh, tasty and not too overly seasoned. The Paella Negres was outstanding in flavor and freshness of the seafood. Carbonara pasta was a hit with the kids with its creamy and cheesy cream sauce (apparently a QE2 original dish). The only dish that was a bit disappointing was the fish & chips as the batter which was a bit soggy and salty but the fish itself was very fresh. The baked Escargot in garlic cream sauce was extremely good as I just love anything that has garlic in it. The fresh button mushroom, fried calamares, sardine canapes and the spicy green mussels were very tasty. I especially liked the dip that came with the squid as it had that smokey bonito flake aroma. As a tribute to the Late Anthony Bourdain - I ordered a Negroni and my other half had a classic Mojito along with a few beers later on. Kids had the cucumber lime aqua and iced chocolate. Service team was very friendly, attentive and helpful with the birthday cake. Service was prompt and professional. My appreciation to the whole FOH and BOH team of La Cocina for an impressive dining experience. We will definitely come back again to try out the dishes out of the Josper...
