Much better than I had remembered it to be. My last visit had easily been 5-6 years back. And somehow in my memory, the food was average. But my latest return had changed my mind.
Initially, it was a bit sad to see on the menu stating that side dishes are only refillable once. Yet after the meal, the taste got me thinking that it is worth every penny 😂 It was a satisfying experience.
Although there weren't a lot of side dishes served, the side dishes were well prepared with fresh and quality ingredients. The taste is slightly on the sweet side, not as localised as Daorae on the other end but I think it is quite authentic for the dishes to taste as such. The napa cabbage kimchi is excellent. Great flavours coming from the prawn paste and beautifully presented in cross sections of the napa cabbage. Even the cucumber kimchi, wow. Really well brined. Extra crunch to every bite. I was a bit torn about the eggplant which was on the sweet side. But it was pleasantly flavourful. The seasoning really brought out the ingredients' original flavour very well.
Ordered a simple stonepot bibimbap and kimchi jjigae and it just felt like they paid attention to every small detail. Even the miso+seaweed soup served with the bibimbap was delicious. The bibimbap was filled with a lot of ingredients and the seaweed and burdock root made it very aromatic. Stonepot left the rice perfectly crusty.
Because they did such a good job with their kimchi, the kimchi jjigae was excellent. Great spiciness and depth of flavour to it.
Price wise, the dishes we ordered were around ~27-35 each so they were quite reasonable. However we did notice some pajeons were priced at 40 so prices are subjective to what you order.
Service was extremely attentive. Even just a glance at the staff, they would quickly respond. They even noticed we were done with the first round of side dishes and quickly brought out new ones without us asking for them. Before we left, the cashier already gotten our bill ready while another staff had pressed the lift button for us. The staff are definitely very very well trained. In fact, I think their service definitely exceeds the price point of the restaurant. It is extremely refreshing to experience such good service at this day and age.
The owner definitely knows how to make their customers happy. A great dinner ended with sikhye and a serving of watermelon on the house. Even the sikhye is so good.
Parking is considerably easy during the night on the perpendicular road downhill from Han Woo Ri. Environment from the lift to the restaurant environment is kept clean with good circulation (despite it being a BBQ place).
I will definitely...
Read moreThe restaurant is located at the top floor of the building but customer do not need to worry as there’s an elevator provided.
Staff immediately greet you once the door of the lift is open as the restaurant is right in front of the lift.
The restaurant do provided set lunches around Rm20 with many different variety from stews, soups and many more. The server do recommend some dishes to enjoy which is useful for newly customer.
The food is served with 6 side dishes along with your main course. Taste wise was delicious but the side dishes were a little too much of both salt and sugar. Tea is refillable for both hot and cold if you do order it. After finishing eating it, they serve watermelon and a sweet barley drink (I believe).
They also made a sweet gesture of saying “hello” and especially “goodbye” in Korean when you’re leaving the restaurant.
One of the downside are the prices of the food menu. It is quite expensive especially the meats for grilling. A la Carte items such as pancake is also extremely expensive which cost RM40 for one plate (but can eat around 5/6 people).
I would say that the restaurant suits higher income customer as food prices is definitely much more expensive as compare to many other Korean restaurant. But overall would dine in again during...
Read moreCame here for dinner. There were 3 of us. Ordered set meal for 2 pax (came with 1 rice) + steamed egg + jap chae + pancake + 1 rice. They offered to help us grill the meat at the back - which we happily accepted. The pancake is really nice to be honest. One of the best korean pancake I tried. I didnt want to order initially cause I was afraid that we couldnt finish the food. However, the staff was recommending and saying that it is really good so we went ahead. Jap chae (glassnoodle) on the other hand which we chose was more expensive and disappointing. We regretted ordering it. We can't even finish 1/4 of it... as it tasted weird to us. The rest of the food were good. Tofu soup a bit too spicy for us but still acceptable cause we got rice. They served us 1 pc of watermelon each + 1 glass of cold barley each when we are done with the food. The best is the service of the staff. Such warm welcome and goodbye - never seen before.. They even bowed to us while we were taking the lift...
