Extremely Disappointed with the Service and Treatment by Management

We had a deeply disappointing experience at Olive restaurant located inside the Hard Rock Hotel Maldives. Although we did not have a prior reservation, we were informed upon arrival at around 7:30 PM that we could dine at 8:30 PM. We politely asked if we could wait inside, especially since there was a large sofa in front of the cashier area that seemed clearly designated for waiting guests. The female staff member kindly said yes, so we stepped down from our buggy and sat there.

We were a group of 10, including two elderly guests aged over 70, and it was raining outside.

Shortly after, a man who introduced himself as the manager—Eddie—approached us and very bluntly told us we could not sit there. He insisted that we leave immediately and even said he would call a buggy to send us away until 8:30 PM. His tone was unnecessarily harsh and dismissive, as if we were a burden rather than guests who had come to enjoy a meal at the resort.

We were not trying to cause trouble—we were simply following instructions from one of the staff members and trying to wait respectfully indoors. Being asked to leave in the rain, especially with elderly people, was unacceptable and inhumane.

This experience does not reflect the level of hospitality and customer care one would expect from a restaurant in a world-class resort like Hard Rock. We hope the management seriously reviews this incident and trains their team—especially those in leadership roles—on how to treat guests with dignity and respect.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Got told to wait OUTSIDE in the rain after being told we could wait inside. Rude and unprofessional FROM THE MANAGER EDDY. If you’re considering dining here, manage your expectations. Respect and warmth are CLEARLY not part of the service.

Came here with my family of 10 people, staying at Hard Rock. Came without a booking and Around 7:35 PM, I confirmed with the staff she says that we could get a table at 8:30 PM, and they told us we could sit and wait near the entrance. So we sat down and waited, no problem.

Then the manager, Eddy, came over and told us to wait outside. Even though it was RAININ. told us to NOT BLOCK the entrance area and go somewhere else while they “called a buggy” for us to wait… SOMEWHERE while RAINING. He claimed we were “blocking the way” and that they needed to serve customers with bookings even though we had literally just made a booking and were told to wait there.

What kind of logic is that?

Instead of solving the situation like a professional, Eddy chose to talk down to us and push us out like we were a nuisance. Honestly, the staff were more helpful than the manager, which says a lot about how this place runs.

We cancelled the booking and left. Hospitality should not feel like we’re being kicked out of somewhere we were invited to wait. Especially not...

We stopped by here while touring around the island on our bikes. The pool area itself is nice, with great views and comfy seats. There are tables, bar seating and a few lounger couches. As we were wet from swimming we couldn't sit in the proper Miss Olive Oyl, but the pool side seats at the bar were great for us. Staff was friendly and attentive.

The cocktails and food we got were really good. I got a fried seafood platter and my boyfriend got sliders. I highly recommend the seafood platter!

As we were finishing a small parade with music came by with the Hard Rock bear mascot giving out free ice cream, how cool is that! Also there are a really cool set of wings on the wall by the pool and a great place to take pictures!
