This “Top 50 restaurant in Asia” is a “Must go-to kind of place” for a one-of-a-kind experience! The food is absolutely incredible; I'm still blown away by how flavorful the crab was. This was the first time I had tried “Sri Lankan” Mud Crab,” which they fly in almost daily from Sri Lanka, and I can't wait to try it again! To me, it tasted more like a 1 lb Maine Lobster fresh off the boat than a Maryland Blue Crab.
Now for the dining experience and staff, earlier on our trip, my wife and I stopped by the restaurant to eat dessert, which is Coconut Creme Brulee served in a coconut shell (BTW, it's phenomenal). Still, the reason we just had dessert is that due to my wife's dietary restrictions, there was nothing on the menu she could eat. Well, the next day, we ran into Mr. Tolga, the GM of the Hard Rock, and he asked us If we had tried the Ministry of Crab yet, and we explained the reason why we only had dessert. Later that night at the Street Market, we ran into Mr. Tolga, and he introduced us to Mr.Afkham, who is the GM of the restaurant. He gave us his card and told us to let him know when we made a reservation, and he would accommodate my wife's needs. The next day we made reservations. Mr. Afkham personally picked us up in the restaurant's fancy buggy at our room. While at the restaurant, the staff was so warm and friendly and treated us like old friends.
Overall the food was 5/5 stars, but the staff truly makes this place a one-of-a-kind type of place, and you’ll leave knowing why this place is ranked as one of the top 50 restaurants in Asia.

Overall: Ministry of Crab is a great place to enjoy a delicious crab meal in a stylish setting. The food is fresh and well-prepared, and the service is excellent. I would highly recommend Ministry of Crab to anyone visiting the Maldives.
The crab was cooked to perfection and was incredibly juicy and flavorful. The garlic bread was perfectly toasted and was the perfect accompaniment to the crab. Breaking into the crab was a fun experience and allowed me to get a closer look at the fresh seafood. The dessert was an absolute delight. The Crème Brûlée was rich and decadent, and it was the perfect way to cool down after a...
Read moreOn first look, Ministry of Crab exudes the appearance of fine dining and quality dining. Upon arrival, the welcome was pleasant and we were seated outside by the water. The staff were both attentive and helpful. The baked crab starter was beautiful. Full of flavour, very moist and tasty. Clearly fresh. One thing I do find annoying is when a restaurant places item on the main menu, only to be told that that do not have this. I wanted Oysters, no Oysters. I wanted Clams, no Clams. In my opinion, if these items are not in regular supply, take them off the main menu and place them on a ‘Specials’ board. Now to the main. I had the Jumbo crab, my husband had the chicken curry. My crab tasted beautiful. Again, very fresh. However, it was in, what seemed an excessive amount of oil and this began to affect the flavour as I ate through the crab. Sadly, by the end of the crab, the oil flavour was all consuming and spoilt the taste. My husbands chicken pieces in the curry, still had the skin attached which was rather unpleasant. In summary, the ambience and feel of the restaurant was great, but the food flattered to deceive. P.S....
