Highly recommended. A small restaurant. For the food I give 4 stars, for the service I give 5 I ordered daily specials. It was a huge portion for one person.Mussels and calamaris were good, fish was a little too plain to me, I personally prefer more flavoured food. Bread starter was offered free of charge, which was a surprise. I don’t know if it’s offered at any time or just during off season. Bread is normal, the sides of fish and tomatoes were delicious Service was top. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. When I ordered juice, the girl explained me it was bottle juice, not fresh. Very attentive to the details. Waiter/waitress were quick at the beginning, but went a little slower in the end. Still, among all restaurants I’ve tried in Malta, they offered the best service. They also disinfect the toilet every hour, which I didn’t see in other restaurants, which increased definitely the point The only downside is maybe they have no tables at the waterfront, (or maybe yes during the season? Not sure)

There’s not enough adjective's to describe how amazing every single dish was. This spot was shown to me by a local and wow I’m so happy I was shown it! The squid carpaccio was absolutely delicious, the fish tempura was unlike any tempura I have ever tried, I think it was dipped in squid ink before frying that gave this fresh yet fish like taste without being too over powering. It was paired with some mushy peas and a sort of lemony hollandaise sauce which suited to well! It really surprised me. The mussels were big and pack with a juicy yet meaty flavour. I almost forgot the oysters! Out of this world!! So fresh wow, again. We also drank Maltese rose, wow the Maltese know their stuff! Finished the light meal with some limoncello, which of course was fab! Do yourself a favour and just go!

Unfortunately also chose this place from other people reviews and feedback. I was very disappointed with this seafood restaurant, which I found overrated and over priced, also not as described. The seafood was so overcooked and more then one time frozen that I was just thinking why you did it to most delicious and delicate meat 🤦♂️ and som of seafood was previously frozen. Of everything we ordered just oysters 🦪 was really fresh , so that is what you can really order and be sure it will be as it should be. French fries was so deep fried and you eat just fried oil that’s all , so you know why they did it ? Because it was already not fresh so they just did it super deep dried French fries. Are you in Marsaxlokk area and looking for a seafood restaurant, so definitely not this one if you not want just to eat oysters for 4,50 € one I’m sorry to leave this review, but I was the one who choose this restaurant based on the reviews.

We were seated immediately near the water. Unfortunately there was a bit of a smell from the water. I ordered catch of the day filleted Awrata which was prepared well but the server forgot the bring the side side. A small matter easily, corrected. My love ordered the crab risotto which had noticed was prepared using coconut milk. She complained about the lack of crab and I found flavor overall to be slightly off. Perhaps it was the coconut milk? When presented with the complaint the owner defended the recipe and reiterated it had a lot of fresh crab but upon further questioning admitted the crab was not sourced locally (Scotland or the Philippines) and might have been canned. After our meal staff ordered a taxi for us. Nice people.

Not only did we all order a bottle of wine, we order starters, the mussel soup with rice was beautiful. I'd never tried before but I like fish fingers... And I was blown away by the cultural cooking. Our service was fantastic. The staff on were friendly and grateful for our business. I ordered the gnocchi cuttlefish and it was fantastic!!! If you like fish and chips, you will love what these guys have to offer. Side note... I've never really liked tomato with fish dishes but roots and their wonderful culernary skills have changed my mind. What they do is art with food. They deserve more than they get and deserve to be top of your list!

Dived into Deliciousness at Craving fresh seafood? Look no further than Roots Restaurant! This spot hit the nail on the head for a perfect Sunday lunch. Sure, it was buzzing with activity – a testament to its popularity – but the lively atmosphere only added to the charm. The food was fantastic. Every bite was a delightful dance of flavors. The service was equally impressive – friendly and attentive without being overbearing. And let's not forget the wine list! They have a short menu with nice selection that perfectly complements their seafood dishes. Overall, we had an amazing "easy-fish-lunch" experience.
