Fish Market Ritas Fresh Fish — Local services in Marsaxlokk

A shop with air-conditioning to buy fresh fish which is very close to the Marsaxlokk open fish market which sits on every Sunday. I came to the open fish market on one of the two Sundays in the year when the fish market remained closed! Fortunately I found this shop where I could still buy some local fresh fish. You can get the fish cleaned for you and everyone in the shop is very helpful explaining the varieties...

As locals we are happy to buy our fish here.

Small detail for improvement would be to make sure the price tags are put in the fish display - often they fall face down, or down in between the fish, making them unable to read - if even there. They happy fix it and just give an exact price when they weight it, but it's just a convenience thing to be able to see it before weighting as it is more effective...

They told me that the awrat is 7 euro per kg and then suggested I choose the larger fish since a smaller filleted fish would have less meat. We had asked for price earlier but they just said 7 euro per kg. We were charged 9.50 euro per kg for XL awrat. We asked about it and was told 'you pay what you get'. Prices for awrat were not even displayed....
