Katrinas — Restaurant in Mellieha

Absolutely appalling This review is based on my experience with my family Firstly I would like to say how stunning and friendly Malta is with all of its historical interesting places and people On visiting Mellieha we enjoyed looking around the area and the day disappeared The kids were hungry so we ventured up the hill and viewed a few menus on the outside of restaurants, On viewing Katrina`s we were accosted by a persistent lady street seller who was very pleasant but pushy and announced for that the kids to here chicken nuggets and free ICECREAM of course this went down very well with the Children (very clever move) So we (the kids ) decided to go in. We sat down we ordered various drinks they arrived promptly, the wine white awful by the glass. We ordered our food and the kids food come out first ,solid overcooked fries /nuggets arrives that definitely didn’t go too well Then out came the Adults meals (Gulp) I ordered a chicken burger it was just a larger version of a processed chicken nugget covered in bread crumbs completely not what was expected or a fresh ingredient that was indicated on inception. The special king prawn Curry at €22.00 was on our table unfortunately for us I think the chef had shrunk them in the pot as the were clearly shrimps not prawns in any fashion. But this is not a curry house in anyway it just sells curry’s We weren’t in the Katrinas long but food and wines were flowing out of the kitchen and the same food Back in within minutes it became quite entertaining !! We were asked if we would a sweet to follow, that was a definite no, the street seller /server then proceed to speak to a colleague look at us and raise her eyes, we didn’t even ask for the free one for the kids

It was our first visit to this restaurant.We were greeted by a man with a t.shirt and track suit bottoms which on first impressions wasn't overly impressed but gave him the benefit of the doubt .He gave us the menu and we ordered drinks.We were looking at the menu and he came up after only a few minutes asked if we were ready to order which replied no.He then huffed and walked away which I thought was extremely rude.Then he came back again and said you order now.!I couldn't believe his attitude.We should have walked out there and then but had our drinks.We then ordered The food was not good at all.My soup was like sludge and the curry was so dry.The rice was the same.It had definately been done in a microwave.The so called naan bread was just garlic bread.one of the waiters were sat smoking at the next table which I found unprofessional. We didn't order a dessert as the food was awful.The toilets were dirty and tiles dropping off the walls. The food was average and overpriced.The reason being we are out at other restaurants in that area and was cheaper and of ALOT higher standard.My husband had a bad stomach the following morning even I did tell him to leave the meal. Avoid this place with it horrible and rude boss. Food was awful, Risotto was with fragments of mussels, we almost broke our teeth with it, burger with beef was with not well cooked meat and the spaghetti with rabbit was inhuman, because they bring me the whole leg of rabbit with spaghetti on it... it supposed to be with pulled meat, not the leg of rabbit!
