The Prickly Pear — Restaurant in Mellieha

Lovely, welcoming staff. The lady that served us was particularly helpful and sweet. (Brown hair up in a bun). Lots of choice here. Flavourful food – I had the prawn tacos. These were delicious. The portion is perfect for 1 or for 2 to share. I almost got the fries too but glad I didn’t as I would have been too full. I also ordered a long island ice tea – be warned – it is potent. I had to take it away in two paper coffee cups! Ha. Apparently this is normal with LIIT – what would I know…! The lovely lady alsohad to water the drink with more coke and syrup for me and she was very accommodating. My friend had the salmon bagel, which must have been very good, as she was still talking about it a few hours later in the day! A lovely restaurant attached to the hotel next door. Décor is nice and spacious. Sofa seats could do with a wipe down after guests please. 😊 Lots of leftover food/spills/crumbs that I had to dust off...

I usually love the food here but this morning I had a full English and it was possibly the worst breakfast I have ever had in Malta and thats saying something. The sausages and rashers were reheated and were like rubber. I asked for scrambled egg so the chef took the fried eggs and chopped them up to look like scrambled, which tells me he/she was lazy and not bothered. Mushrooms were cold. No butter for the toast.The beans had a crust on the top like they were the third time in the microwave. Left half of it behind. Staff are lovely but she didn't even ask why I left half of it behind, I could tell she was ashamed. Would really of loved to call the chef out and ask him/her to try it him/her self. Never eating...

I ordered the Yaki Udon Seafood Noodle Pot but what they gave me was completely different. It seemed like they had no ingredients to make it, but rather than letting me know they just made a completely different dish hoping I wouldn’t notice.

It said on the menu it contained Shiitake mushrooms, sugar snap peas, spring onions, fried nori, sea bream, and prawn tartare. I was given fried prawns, ontop of noodle with peppers, carrot spring onions and shiitake mushrooms. There was no sugar snap peas, fried nori, sea bream and prawn taretare.

My partner ordered the duck taco and beef taco and it was wrong also.
