Imperial Band Club — Local services in Mellieha

I'd love to recommend this place but I can't. The atmosphere was really good because of the live music (Thursdays and Sundays). The food was excellent. The prices were very reasonable.

So why 1 star? The service was non existent and the worst I have experienced at any restaurant in years. It took them an hour to deliver two cocktails and a diet pepsi. It took a further half hour (1.5 hours after we ordered) for the food. It also took 40 mins for them to bring the bill after we asked - twice. Honestly if it hadn't been for the music (the musician was brilliant) we would have walked.

When I eventually got to pay I asked if it was busy as everything was slow. I was told it was busy inside as well and "there is a list". So that told me we were clearly at the bottom of that list. This restaurant has now gone to bottom of my list. Shame. It has promise but no delivery...

I have no idea how they have such a high rating.. food was inedible. Served spam as an appetiser (first red flag). Starter was the Maltese sausage, with wilted rocket salad, possibly the best dish there, still not the best though. All the mains were DEFIENTLY not prepared same day, it all tasted like it was from the freezer and straight into the microwave. Packet gravy in the rabbit spaghetti, powdered milk in the ravioli. There was four of us and not a single person enjoyed their meal, or anyone else's on the table. Fed it to the street cat, who didn't eat it either... worse part was that it was not even cheap, criminal. The single star is for the atmosphere, right out front of the church, thats it... I've been all over Europe for the past few weeks and this is hands down the worst food, it made...

We had the most excellent time at the Imperial Band Club during our stay in the town. Fantastic selection of whisky and I'm not really a whisky drinker! The atmosphere was relaxed when we first discovered the club on a Friday morning when we stopped by for a coffee and a grappa where the locals engaged us in conversation and were really friendly. On the Friday evening we popped in again where the band with their friends and family were having a special meal with karaoke so I entertained everyone with my rendition of 'I will survive' . We also sampled their yummy food of plentiful portions for not much money. We met such interesting people and shared many funny stories, we really can't wait for our next trip to...
