Casa Gringo Casa Gringo, located in Camilleri Plaza in Nadur, Gozo, is a Mexican, South American-style restaurant. When walking in, we were greeted by friendly staff and what appeared to be family members of the staff. We were the first patrons to arrive. We ordered wine and water, which were promptly brought to our table. As another couple came into the restaurant, we ordered nachos, a pork burrito, and a beef burrito. The friendly server and what may have been her son brought complimentary side dishes consisting of potato skins, hot peppers, and olive spread with bread. Our bean and cheese nachos quickly followed. The potato skins were flavorful and savory, but the olive spread was extremely salty. We thought the nachos were tasty, but the chips were mostly broken up and some were stale. Two more couples entered the restaurant at this time. As we were finishing the nachos, the couple that came in after us had been served their burrito and burrito bowl. We sat and waited and waited. The couple with the burritos finished their meal and paid. The other two couples had now been brought their drinks and chips. And we waited. After forty minutes, we had finished our wine and water, but still no burritos. All this time, the originally very attentive server never came back to our table. Enough was enough. I went and told the staff we wanted to pay for the wine, water, and nachos, but we were done waiting for two simple burritos. The server told me to wait and ran down to talk to the cook. She came back saying the burritos were just coming out. I said no. I paid, and we left. This gringo will not be back. Since the owner of Casa Gringo felt it necessary to try and cover the short comings of his restaurant by making up stories and insulting me, I need to point a few things out to him. I know how long it takes to make a burrito. I worked in the culinary world for 12 years starting out as a busboy to waiter on to a line cook to sous-chef to manage more than one location. Reviews should be taken to learn something, not to take...

what a disappointing visit.

my friend and I decided to check out this Latin American cuisine restaurant, and so we went. on our end, we didn't book a table, which fair, it seemed to be expected. the owner (or at least the main waiter) almost told us there was no space but then offered a table between two booked tables, one already occupied by a party of 4.

after giving us a menu, we waited for a someone to take our order for around 15 minutes. the main waiter joked around with the table of four, but when it came to our table, when we asked for a list of drinks, we were met with "soft drinks, juices, and water", whereas the other tables were being provided with wine lists and we could hear a shaker in the back. we also noticed - no one told us about the specials, but we had the opportunity to hear them three times over, being told to the other tables near us.

we ordered drinks and food, both of us getting tacos, myself with pork and with chicken, and hers with chicken, as well as nachos for starters. we were first given bread, a dip, and peppers, that were good. then they brought us both plates at once, one with nachos and the other with the tacos arranged in a mixed manner, with no clear differentiation - we didnt request this. my friend cannot consume pork, and when we told the waiter this, he swore a bit in Maltese and tried to figure out which ones were which, but she was still concerned about the juices contaminating her food. since we were hungry, although not offered to be made a new plate but asked if we're okay, we accepted the food. nachos were underwhelming, but tacos were okay, better when compared to other local choices.

she's just done throwing up after this visit, it's currently 12am.

will not be returning.

update: the owner did try to contact me as stated in their reply. they requested my Facebook profile at 1am, which is very unprofessional. this did warrant a block. the owner keeps updating their reply to my review. a very immature way to deal with things, self...

The first night on Gozo we walked through Nadur to find a place to eat, everything on the big square didn't look very inviting so we really didn't expect to find an astonishing gem like Casa Gringo at all. I honestly wish I could've taken this restaurant and the staff with me in my suitcase :(

Very friendly warm staff who go above and beyond just for you to have an amazing evening. The first time we ordered burritos and on recommendation we went for the chicken taco as a starter. It was so amazingly flavorous and well balanced that I got really curious about everything else on their menu.

The second night they were trying out horse tacos. I was a bit scared and sceptical about it but I figured if there's anywhere I'd want to try new things, it's definitely here. It was again, so good that I was really looking forward to main. They had ribeye available that night which is honestly the best one I've ever eaten in my life, and I've had many :') When you actually want to eat the fat that's on there because it's melting in your mouth, you know there's an artist in the kitchen! ❤️

Their wine menu overwhelmed us a bit at first because they have so many great choices, but with help from their sommelier we got to a lovely red wine. Of which I still have the cork as a key ring, to remember our first night on Gozo ❤️ And the second.. and the third.. and the fourth! We kept coming back because of their mouth watering food and because of the people, Casa Gringo succeeded to make every bite...

Attention all food lovers! If you’re tired of the endless parade of pizza, pasta, and Maltese rabbit, then it’s time to spice things up at Casa Gringo in Nadur, Gozo. This newly opened gem is a haven for South American cuisine enthusiasts, and trust me, it’s a game-changer. What makes Casa Gringo so special? First off, the food. Prepared with passion and flair, every dish is a burst of vibrant flavours that will transport your taste buds straight to South America. The owners, who previously ran a highly successful Mexican takeaway in Nadur, have now brought their culinary magic to a full-fledged restaurant. And we couldn’t be happier about it! The atmosphere at Casa Gringo is warm and welcoming, much like the delightful owners themselves. It’s the kind of place where you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The menu is packed with delicious, affordable dishes and a fantastic wine list to match. Whether you’re in the mood for tacos, empanadas, or a hearty South American stew, Casa Gringo has you covered. In fact, it’s so good that it’s quickly become one of the hottest spots on Malta and Gozo. But here’s a little tip: make sure to book a table a few days in advance. This place is popular, and for good reason. So, if you’re in the mood for something different, head over to Casa Gringo. Great food, wonderful people, and an atmosphere that makes every meal feel like a fiesta. Highly recommended!
