Del Capo — Restaurant in Nadur

The restaurant is named after the chess player, and it has a couple of tables reserved for those who want to play chess too, perhaps while savouring one of the excellently prepared cocktails.

I would describe the atmosphere as geeky yet cool. There is a wall feature made from old audio cassette tapes, while books adorn another wall. The ceiling lamps are made from old hats…. You get the idea.

The food is a mix of Mediterranean and Balkan. The menu is small, which is often a good sign that food is freshly prepared.

For starters we had pork lcroquettes and fried calamar, which were very good, and for mains my wife had a perfectly cooked ribeye steak served with lovely, rustic roasted potatoes while I had the Mare e Monti which is calamari stuffed with bacon and mushroom filling, then grilled and set on a potato salad. Really tasty. My son has a kids pasta with butter and cheese and the pasta seemef homemade and served al dente.

For dessert we had a chocolate and cinnamon cake and a pistachio tiramisu. A little limited in choice but home made and delicious, although the cake could have been softer.

I also had a whiskey sour cocktail which was very well prepared.

In my home village of Nadur, Gozo, Del Capo is popular with locals and visitors. They serve breakfast and dinner. Check for seasonal hours. The menu has a selection of Maltese and international food. For breakfast I like the Full English. For dinner I always order the Americana Burger. Pizza is very popular - lots of takeout. Del Capo serves soft drinks, wine, beer, and a selection of spirits.There is a full service coffe bar. Sit inside or out and enjoy good service, tasty food, and a friendly atmosphere. Pizza was excellent however service was not up to standard. Arrived at 9pm, took 10 minutes to be noticed ordered wine .Waited to be served and waited .Eventually after 45 minutes asked for and placed order at counter ( After another half an hour still no food and asked when.Was told now .10 minutes later food arrived. 1 Pizza and fries. Eaten here before and service was good. The restaurant was busy but Today felt as if takeout was priority and 2 drop ins could be faffed off. Faffed is not our experience...
