When I arrived I was told that I didn't have a reservation, despite having called earlier and having my reservation confirmed.
The host at the front desk wasn't friendly nor smiling as Mauritians usually are, in fact he looked quite annoyed to be there and was quite distant in receiving guests.
Finally, after multiple times repeating my name for him to search, he gave up and showed us a seating area.
Once seated no waiter came to our table for quite some time. Although I tried to make eye contact it was to no avail, and we did not get service after sitting down for more than half an hour. Then a waitress showed up just to turn the glasses over and hand us our napkin. She left with no hello, no drink menu, no food menu and no comments.
After another 15 minutes a waitress dropped off a drink menu, but to my surprise there was no wine listed. When I called a waiter over to ask if they had wine, a wine menu was finally provided. During this period a small basket of tiny, stale bread pieces was provided.
In order to order wine I once again had to flag down a waiter to place an order of wine.
The restaurant wasn't busy and there were only about 6 six tables that were occupied. Therefore, I couldn't understand why the service was non existent.
Once the wine arrived the waiter (host) was serving the wine, and again he looked annoyed and wasn't friendly at all. At this point there was still no sign of a food menu.
After we sat there with the wine for about 15 minutes, I again flagged down a waiter to get a food menu. At this point we had been seated for about an hour.
The food menu looked very impressive, and prices were reasonable. I was particularly impressed to see their offering of "local tastes", and what caught my eye was the Octopus Curry. I felt that this choice could not go wrong given that it's a local dish, in a country that thrives on curried food. Boy was I wrong! When my plate arrived after another 30 minutes I was very disappointed to find that it did not taste like curry at all, and had hardly any Octopus, with dish being mostly potatoes. I thought I was eating a Fricaser Pomme de Terre.
It's a shame, and if you going to have a local food on the menu then please ensure that it's the real thing.
Near the end of our meal, we spoke with another couple that was walking out after an excessive wait and poor service. I hope that it was not a consideration that both couples are black!
When we finished our meal, we advised the host of our experience. His response was "next time you visit we will serve you a real curry"! Of course, there will not be a next time for us!
Overall, I cannot believe that a beautiful restaurant with lots of style and the very high standard that it espouses would serve food of that caliber.
Anyway, my advice to the owner is to please ensure that proper training is provided to servers and ensure that the quality of food especially local tastes, does represent the real thing.
Overall, an extremely...

We visited this beach restaurant two weeks ago, and the experience was beyond disappointing. Upon arrival, four staff members were at the entrance, yet no one greeted us. It took 10 minutes for someone to take our order, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. The staff’s body language was unwelcoming, and every request felt like we were inconveniencing them. When we asked for the bill, we noticed a tip was automatically included without our consent. When I inquired about it, the cashier dismissed my question and called the waiter, who curtly replied, “It’s written on the menu.” Clearly, I wasn’t the first to question this practice. The cashier then looked at my tourist friend and remarked, “Yes, but foreigners don’t think it’s expensive.” He then casually added that he could remove the tip if I wanted. So, does that mean I can decide what I want to pay for? Where’s the logic in that?
This behavior is not only unprofessional but also unethical and definitely illegal. The consumer protection unit has already been made aware this. Tipping is a choice, not an obligation, and it should reflect the quality of service received—which, in this case, was nonexistent.
To make matters worse, my friend gave the restaurant a second chance, only to be ignored by three different waiters for 30 minutes. He left without being served.
This type of attitude only reinforces the negative perception that some Mauritian businesses exploit tourists, especially white-skinned ones. And the implication that only Mauritians find the pricing expensive is both disrespectful and discriminatory.
No surprise that this beach club remains mostly empty despite its stunning location. Hospitality isn’t just about running a business—it’s about knowing how to treat people. If the staff here can’t even manage that, they’re in the wrong industry.
After this experience, I will never return, nor will I recommend this...
Read moreWe had an absolutely fantastic experience at 2Beach Club by Futures in the north of Mauritius. This beach club is beautifully designed, with a fantastic restaurant, a pool, and a relaxing atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot for a day of relaxation and enjoyment.
The location itself is stunning, with sunbeds placed right in front of a beautiful beach – probably one of the most beautiful beaches we've visited in Mauritius. The sand is pristine, and the water is crystal clear. The perfect setting to unwind and enjoy the surroundings.
The food was delicious – something we didn’t experience as frequently in Mauritius, but at 2Beach Club by Futures, it was a real treat. From fresh seafood to flavorful dishes, everything we tried was top-notch.
What really stood out, though, was the service. The staff at 2Beach Club went above and beyond to ensure that our experience was perfect. They were extremely friendly, attentive, and always eager to fulfill any request. What really impressed me was how they anticipated our needs before we even asked. For example, they had already reserved a table for us for lunch without us having to ask! Even with last-minute changes to our plans, they were incredibly flexible and accommodating. Honestly, this was the best service we’ve experienced in Mauritius – every staff member we interacted with was just wonderful.
If you're visiting Mauritius, I highly recommend checking out the Day Pass at 2Beach Club by Futures – it's absolutely worth it. From the amazing location to the exceptional service, everything was perfect. A huge thank you to Yash, who took care of us during our visit, but honestly, all the staff were amazing.
This place is a must-visit for anyone looking for a top-notch beach club experience...
