Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Isle Mauritius

Tasty food cooked to order on the grill. The atmosphere and service is nothing special but I enjoyed the meal, and the wine and cocktail list was good for Mauritius. While it is on the pricier side, the portions are extremely generous, and I could have shared my grilled fish and calamari main. The sauces were surprisingly good - I enjoyed the pepper sauce and the hot chilli sauce served with the rice and potatoes accompaniment. The side salad was dismal and I’d be weary of ordering a salad main. The fish served was tuna, which was served in thin fillets and cooked through, which was tasty, but I typically prefer a thicker, seared option. The food was ok we where serviced by and old guy who's name was (ali) or so he told us after i asked if the food was halal because we where traveling with muslims he never have us an answer he rather attacked us screaming and shouting that we should eat fish and that our country does not have any fish !!! We found that very rude but we did not push it the seafood was ok there is no seasoning on it it is just grilled ! Later we found out the owner bought the fish for a cheap price of the fishery close by grand baie which left us feel even worse WARNING ! DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU CANT HANDLE THE SMOKE ! there is bbq smoke all over the restaurant if your a astma patient do not come here you will regret it...

Grille and Chill is a cozy and charming restaurant located in the northern part of Mauritius. I really appreciated the warm welcome and inviting atmosphere. The place tends to get quite busy on weekends. We enjoyed a main course of marlin and vegetables, paired with one of their delicious cocktails. The service was prompt and efficient. A highlight was the live grilling of fish right in front of the restaurant, which added a fun and engaging touch. I was delighted to celebrate my birthday there — truly a great find and an excellent choice. Highly recommended for a night out!
