Restaurant L'Assiette du Nord — Restaurant in Isle Mauritius

We came to this establishment 4 times in our 2 weeks in Mauritius. Three times with a group of friends (one of which was just drinks while they helped us find a taxi) and our last evening meal just me and my boyfriend.

All I can say is wow! The service here is amazing with friendly and fun staff. Food is so good and prices are amazing! Very cheap but tastes like it isnt! The portion sizes are huge but they have take away boxes so you are able to take left overs with you. Pleanty of food to pick from (although desserts there were only 4 items). Some of the food had are fried noodles (various choices), fried rice (varios choices), chicken lollipop (not like the ones in the UK which are spicy! These are not at all which i was so pleased with!), chips, cheese fritters, ice cream (5 flavours) and creme brulee. Just to name a small portion of their menu we had.

Open establishment with a big flow from outside dining (all covered) into inside dining, decorated with a couple of large fish tanks with a small selection of marine life that are relaxing to watch after eating a large satisfying meal.

Make sure you check times as some menu items are not available at certain points of the day and there are days were the place is closed compleatly.

We are were excited to explore food in the North of Mauritius and have driven from an hour away. This restaurant was nicely lit and had a warm atmosphere so we decided to venture in. We were quickly seated, however was then rushed by our woman server (whom I also think was the owner) to take our order. She was sighing while we decided, and annoyed when we had asked for recommendations. When we had asked to be given a moment, she said our food will then come out last. Our drinks and appetizers came out in due time, however our main took close to an hour. The servers that delivered our food were kind and attentive. However it was owner that left a bad taste and impression that tainted the experience. When it came to billing, we had kindly asked if she would be able to clearly itemize the receipt for work expensing purposes, and she was extremely frustrated and annoyed. She ended up only writing the total dollar amount, which unfortunately would not suffice for expenses. Overall we just left and was baffled back the lack of care for...

First of all: loved the food. The food was real good value for money. Unfortunately, the service was the worst. We were pressured to order fast, they complained we took too long to decide, then when we had the "audacity" to ask for another plate so we could share the food, the waiter got annoyed and said we should make sure to ask for everything we need at once as he is very busy and does not want to come multiple times to the table. This was when 4 out of (maybe) 15 tables were occupied... at the end we were then charged twice (!) the price for a dish because we asked for an extra ingredient in the dish (and were not informed of this beforehand). Such a pity for the chef, the food was great but because of the service of the owners we won't go...
