We visited this joint (I would not call it a restaurant) with a colleague after meeting a client up in the north. A friend of mine from France had actually told me about this place.
I asked for a recommendation for something filling as we were a bit hungry and we went with her recommendation. All good so far. After the meal, the French tenant asked if we wanted dessert. We told her that we wanted some light because the dish was actually quite filling. (Butternut risotto with chorizo)
The lady looked at me in the eye and spurted the following words in French, "Un dessert leger, c'est comme un plat mauricien sans piment! ça n'existe pas! Prenez l'addition!"*
A light dessert is like a Mauritian dish without chillies, it does not exist. Take the bill!
We paid and left.
Now I do not know her issue with Mauritius or Mauritian uisine or us, but she did not seem happy to do her job or where she was.
And I am steering clear...
