Dear reader, This is a beautiful old colonial style house and has access to around 90% of its area. This is a must see if you are touring the island. It will cost you 400MUR / person, and you can pay by cash or card. If you’ve been on a journey, they also have a toilet stop! Which is clean and convenient. We didn’t stay for any food, although others have reviewed this, and I believe this is ok. We took a walk to the waterfalls (4), and was the main reason for going. Key note: please prepare, good walking shoes, and mosquito spray. These two are a must. The walk / hike down is very slippery. You walk down rocks and very small trails. So … be careful. Take your time. That said, the views are spectacular! It’s really worth it. My attached video just shows what amazing sights await you. The house itself is super cool. It’s depicts a story since 1836 I believe. The house walks you through a family story and has some great pictures and furniture. From the garden looking back to the house, the backdrop is stunning. On the right day, late afternoon, great pictures can be taken. I hope you enjoy as much as we did.

We wanted a break between driving from north to south and chose this over visiting the mall and were not disappointed! What a beautiful place! We had the creole menu first out on the terrace of the building with a beautiful view. The food tastes homemade in the best way, and service was super friendly. The cappuccino was delicious! Visiting the old house was very interesting. It would have been great to get some more information and facts about life back then and the history of the house, but it was very enjoyable nevertheless. We walked down to the waterfalls which were beautiful as well (wear good shoes and use mosquito repellent!). Can highly recommend visiting this place when in the area.

The house gives insight into the decor and facilities of the time. If you are interested in history then this will fascinate you. A walkthrough history is always relevant as it is captivating. Once you’ve toured the house you can go through the back and visit the gardens where you can descend to see the waterfalls. A remarkable place of calm, tranquility and natural beauty. All nestled away below. Almost like a secret garden. Place is well maintained and hopefully remains so. The track to the waterfalls is easy with signage. Ensure proper footwear is worn. Recommended visit.

As a mauritian myself, i have never visited the eureka house maybe when i was in college (which was very very long time ago), went there for my birthday, unexpectedly receiving rude service from one of the waiters when having lunch there, he did not have any way of speaking to clients (us), this is just not fair for domestics tourist to be receiving such bad behaviour with local staff which themselves are mauritians and giving their best to foreign tourist, we have also the right to be treated fairly, any way, the receptionist was very nice, good communication skills, had a good visit in the house, the madam who was taking our order was very nice also|and i would like please to have the recipe for local ice tea, absolutely love it, the grilled coconut also on top on the ice cream...

Ok so 2 stars may be a little bit mean as there is some real beauty here, for a start the building itself has so much character full and creeky old charm with a lovely garden at the end of which is a trail down to a series of stunning and beautiful waterfalls to explore which are worth 5 stars at least... my disappointment however was the blunt attitude upon arriving, there was no real greeting from the lady at the front desk just a declaration of how much we had to pay and then the annoyance that we didn’t have any change or notes small enough to give her. Also as lovely as the house was there was absolutely no information throughout the property as to why it was there or the history of the place. We left somewhat...
