Do not waste your money with this restaurant. The only thing that’s good is the price but you do not get anywhere near the quality you would expect especially from a sit down restaurant. We decided to bring mum out for a lovely lunch at bagatelle as it is mother’s day today and we went in to the restaurant where we required a table for three so firstly they put us down the very back right beside the staff door and reception which was ok, not brilliant but ok. The wall beside me had one large black stain on it which was kind of a turn off as it resembled something you would see on the inside of a toilet bowel and the table cloth had marks and stains all over it. So just on first impressions it wasn’t great but I said nothing to mum and my wife and continued to order. The menu had plenty of option and the price looked very reasonable so we ordered hakien and prawn fritters for starters and fillet fish with onions and ginger and fried noodles with chicken and egg for mains. Upon ordering the food the server was not overly friendly at all. He was fine but could have done a lot more regarding mannerisms etc... something to make the customer feel welcome or wanted but he looked like he would rather be in bed. Now I completely understand that feeling but you can not portray this to your customers. I’m not saying he was not a nice man but a few simple please and thank you’s go along way. So that was fine and the food was ordered and I decided to use the bathroom to wash my hands and I asked the same server, where are your toilets please, he said and pointed “over there”. Now it wasn’t a great way of answering a customers question but the difficulty was that the words “over there” did not describe in any details where the toilets were as there is a big false wall in that direction with six doors behind it and the wall is split into two sections so you have to enter on either side so “over there” didn’t explain that I had to enter on the left hand side of the false wall and use the second door after the kitchen. By the way who puts the public toilets beside the kitchen in a restaurant. Anyway I proceeded to the toilets which were discussing by the way and went to wash my hands and when you turn on the water there is a blast of water so furious that it splashes all over your clothes. I tried to then turn down the pressure after been soaked but once you do so such a small amount of water comes out so there are really only two options as such. Then there was no paper towels to dry my hands and the hand dryer was so bad it was like somebody blowing on my hands with their mouth. I then went back to the table and said nothing of my experience as I didn’t feel it was the place to do so and my wife then went to the ladies toilets and upon her return, the first thing she said was that the toilets were disgusting and I asked her about the water situation and she said she had the same problem with massive pressure. Anyway we then awaited our food and the prawn fritters were actually quite nice but quite greasy and the hakien was horrible. It was no where near cooked as the A’s the outer coating was raw dough. I eat hakien any chance I get as it one of my favourites but this was not nice at all. All three of us took a piece and all three of us at the same time had a look of disgust on our faces. We told the staff and they told us that this is the way the always serve it. Wow this means that the poor waiter either didn’t know what to say so that came out of his mouth or else he was telling the truth and almost raw dough texture was quite standard. We were contemplating leaving at this stage but I wanted something to be special for mum so we decided to stay for main course. Main course came out and instead of fried noodles we got fried rice and we explained that we ordered fried noodles with chicken and egg so they started again on this dish and when it did arrive there was zero egg on the dish plus the flavour was not great at all. Out of ten for flavour it was definitely no more than 3. That’s not good at all. Fish dish was ok...
Read moreWe went there for dinner buffet. Very good atmosphere but if the music level could be a bit less louder it would be great. Staffs were very welcoming and was friendly. I was disappointed with the food. For starters, i would say it was okay...i really liked the veg starters. Very tasty. For main course the veg fried rice was good. But for veg fried noodles the noodles were glue together(cange) and the taste also was not good like it was expired. The other dishes that were served for main course were not bad. For dessert i would prefer a simple vanilla ice cream. We were supposed to have sagoo with coconut ice cream and grass jelly. But instead we had sagoo milk the ice cream melted as they kept dessert near main dishes were served piping hot. I think you should change the place. And for grass jelly it was too watery. The desserts must be reviewed. Some friends didnt even take the desserts. But have to pay for everything. And for drinks its too expensive. A can 300ml soft drink was rs100. And they dont have in 1L or 2L if u have a lot of people. I hope that the menu can be changed and some improvements...
Read moreUpon arrival, our party was met with a warm and professional greeting, setting a positive tone for the evening. The service throughout was, in a word, excellent. Waitstaff impressed not only with their polished presentation but also with their remarkable alacrity in delivering dishes to our table, a commendable feat in any busy establishment. The culinary journey commenced promisingly with the starters, which proved to be both good and flavoursome. This positive momentum carried through to the main course, where the sweet and sour fish stood out as a highlight, demonstrating a commendable balance of taste. However, no experience is without its minor dissonances. The mixed vegetable dish, regrettably, leaned towards the bland, lacking the vibrant spices and depth of flavour one might anticipate. This minor misstep, while noticeable, did not overshadow the overall generous portions, which certainly offer good value. Considering its strategic location, Eighty Eight offers a fairly priced dining experience. While the mixed vegetables may have missed the mark on flavour, the overall meal was...
