I recently called Mekong Market to inquire about the price of an item, as I live in South Anchorage and wanted to confirm it before making the trip. Unfortunately, the young man who answered the call was unhelpful and rude. He told me he couldn't provide pricing information over the phone and insisted I come to the store in person. When I tried to explain the inconvenience of traveling all the way there just to check a price, he responded, "If you don't want it then don't come," and hung up on me.This level of customer service is unacceptable. It is a small grocery store and the other half is a buffet style restaurant. The food is pre made and ready for your picking. The roasted pork belly has no seasoning, oily and doesn’t taste like anything. The fried rice was decent as well as their curry pigs feet. The portion size is small but the total price we paid definitely not worth it, pretty spendy. One of the server has a smart mouth but aside from that customer service was decent. If you' re looking for hot Polynesian food (fob food) this is the only place in Alaska you can get some. Price is not too bad, compared to red apple and everything else here in expensive anchorage.
