These guys have a spectacular negro mole sauce on their hands. It is easily the best we’ve had in the Cabo area and probably one of the top ten negro moles we’ve ever had. It has to be the real deal (we hope?) but who knows… If it is from scratch we’re sure the recipe is a family heirloom. Please visit and get the chicken enchiladas con negro mole. We doubt you’ll be disappointed. In fact you may need to pinch yourself to make sure you are not dreaming. It was that good. Beyond the food, the service was wonderful. The crew behind the counter were so kind to us. We’re not sure what the staff relationships are but it felt like a family run spot. The only (slight) negative is their location in what is basically an upscale food court (while there, order a cadillac margarita with no agave from Esquina Cantina just behind you to pair with your meal). A more relaxed atmosphere would be preferred but we’ll take what we can get for this mole… We hope their little corner in El Markado is a launchpad for a dedicated restaurant and the family prospers!

My wife and I wanted to escape the coporate resort environment and find some good local food. El Merkado offers lots of great food options in a fun, casual environment. We chose La Carreta for their focus on food from Oaxaca and were not disappointed. The friendly staff were engaging and the food was delicious. I tried the huge Oaxacueno platter and it was a great sampler. We also got the negro mole tamales, which were absolutely fantastic...rich and mildly sweet with excellent masa. I had a pineapple mezcal drink that was super refreshing and good for washing down the spicy food. You can't go wrong at La Cerrata!

This place was good, not much to complain about but also nothing super spectacular and a little overpriced. We got chilaquiles and enchilada mole - both with steak. The steak was over cooked and really hard to cut, on top of that they gave us butter knives.

The team at El Beer Shop recommended that we try the Especial Tlayuda and we were amazed. The freshness and the flavor was nothing like we find in the states. We were pleasantly surprised that the tortilla was nice and crisp despite having lot of meats and vegetables; we expected it would become soggy. The portion is huge and with two of us, we were not able to finish the whole thing.

You get a lot of food here for the money. Fresh,...
