We looked for a restaurant that looked authentic and had some live entertainment and this place came up. We called ahead and ask and make sure that they have live music, they told us yes on the phone, but when we got there they didn’t which was a bummer. The place feels authentic and has an interesting decor. After looking at the menu you can tell that there are items targeting locals like tacos ranging from 32-48 pesos and other items targeting tourists like the rolled cheese for 160 pesos or a pina colada for the same price that isn’t even in their menu. The best item we ordered was the arranchera volcano aka flank steak. I also had an al pastor taco, but it wasn’t that great. The shredded beef quesadilla was alright. The rolled cheese was a bit of a disappointment for us, it’s too much for two people and we basically had half of it and threw away the rest. It would work best for a group of four or more, still I wouldn’t order it again for 8$. The chicken taco was dry. In terms of drinks the pina colada was good, but a bit pricy, I had a great one in San Lucas for half the price. The mango strawberry drink was ok too. Everyone was nice, some spoke a bit of English, but called in some other folks to help us communicate. We liked the atmosphere and would go back for more flank steak and...
Read moreNot sure if I am reviewing the same location, but since it’s likely owned by the same people, wanted to say this review is for the San Jose Del Cabo restaurant.
Everything about this restaurant was great. We came close to closing time on a Sunday so it was pretty dead, but I can see how busy and lively this place can be on a Friday or Saturday night. Service was great, the food was really good, and drinks tasty.
The only thing I’d say is check your bill. They didn’t overcharge us but since I had an idea of what the bill would be in USD, I was shocked to see it was about $20 USD more. After talking to the waitress, she explained that paying in pesos is cheaper at the current 20 pesos per dollar rate. If you pay with a credit card, their exchange is 15 pesos per dollar. That said, we had enough to pay in pesos and took them up on that offer. You may not care but $20 USD is three drinks in Cabo. I had no problem with them determining the exchange rate as it is their restaurant, but I think it should be mentioned or there should be a sign, as most places do offer that info upon arrival.

Read moreI read about this place on TripAdvisor and all the ratings were spot one. This place is a gem!
It was so good we went back there the very next day for lunch! The Volcanoes: hard corn tortilla with a choice of 7 different meats and melted cheese were excellent. Top the Volcano off with some fresh salsa.
The Quesadillas Chilangas stole the show. These are fried folded corn tortillas with melted cheese. The tortillas are made fresh, actually everything is made fresh and you can see the staff working hard chopping veggies and cooking meats. There is a sweetness to the tortilla that it almost seems like you are eating a desert! I loved it with mushrooms and my wife loved it with pumpkin flower.
All the food is borderline cheap! Alcohol is where I think they get some of their profit margins back.
If you are in San Jose del Cabo and you want authentic mexican food frequented by the locals, eat here. By the way, when I asked random locals that spoke English if they had heard of Las Guacamayas every single person smiled and said it's a...
