My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed dining at the Mako restaurant which was right on the beach and pool at Solaz. The one thing we noticed right away was the waiter. Julio Anaya was well mannered and was expert with all of the menu offerings at Mako. He guided us through the menu and made very easy to decide what to order. Julio stood out for several reasons. First he was very informed about many topics and offered his guidance when we asked, but did not try to take away from our experience there. He was very well educated for his age and we appreciated him taking care of us. This resulted in a great dining experience. If you dine there please look for Julio and ask for him. Read moreWe found Mako to be such a “hidden gem” on our trip. During the day, they service the pool for drinks, lunch and snacks. The daytime snacks were far above any other resort food we’ve had. I would recommend the shrimp quesadilla, ceviche, and my favorite - guacamole with chorizo, served with pork rinds and blue corn tortilla chips. We found the drinks here to be better at nighttime. They have a different cocktail menu for the mako restaurant than they do for the pool. We loved sitting by the fire pit for drinks and dessert! The service was fantastic - both Julio and Angel gave great recommendations. My husband was new to mezcal and every time we visited, Julio had thought up a new drink for him to try. We highly recommend visiting Mako outside of the pool hours - you won’t be...
Read moreWe stayed at Solaz and had some credit to use on property. We decided on Mako because of the beautiful views, especially at sunset. The food was surprisingly tasty. We had the octopus, ribeye, chowder soup, mocktail pina cola, and kid's quesadilla. The only thing that wasn't good was the quesadilla, which was too dry. They offer you bread and butter which is great when you have hungry kids! Yes it's pricey but luckily the food was good for us and of course you pay for the view. Also it got chilly and they offered us blankets...
