Solaz Los Cabos||Our week-long vacation at Solaz Los Cabos felt like two very different experiences, but overall, it was a fantastic stay with some memorable moments.||Setting & Architecture|The resortâs design is a beautiful blend of contemporary and natural elements, creating a serene and visually stunning environment. Solaz has seamlessly integrated itself into the surrounding landscape, making it feel secluded and peaceful, whether it's day or night. The property is a mix of the main resort, timeshares, and residences. At check-in, we were offered the opportunity to attend a timeshare presentation, which we politely declined. While it felt a little unusual, they were not pushy at all, and we were able to move on quickly.||Pools|There are several pools on property, each with its own vibeâsome more family-oriented, others more tranquil. The pool area is well-maintained with plenty of seating. However, by mid-vacation, we noticed a frustrating trend: pool chairs were being reserved early in the morning (7:30 am đ±) , even though many guests wouldnât show up until hours later. The staff, particularly Pedro, Juan and Jorge, were exceptional at ensuring we had a good experience. Pedro, especially, made a personal effort to greet us by name each day, which was a nice touch.||Dining|All the restaurants at Solaz were excellent. The food was consistently delicious, and we didnât have a bad meal. Yes, some guests may grumble about the cost (as one might expect at a resort), but when factoring in the convenience and the price of eating off-property, the difference wasnât too significant. The breakfast buffet is extensive, and the pizza oven serves up great pies until 5:00 pm (definitely try them). The churros at Al Pirro were out of this world, and the service there was impeccable.||Room|We stayed in a one-bedroom plunge pool suite, which was absolutely amazing. The suite was spacious, well-decorated, and very comfortable, with a bed and pillows that ensured a restful nightâs sleep every time. The plunge pool was a nice touch, offering a private space to cool off or relax away from the crowds. Some guests have commented that the plunge pools are small, but we found it perfect for its intended purpose.|However, there were a few minor negatives:||The bathroom lighting made it challenging to do makeup properly.|There was no full-length mirror for outfit checks.|The shower water temperature never quite reached the level of hot we prefer (it stayed around lukewarm), but we made do, considering it as invigorating rather than a setback.||Service|The service at Solaz was generally good, but it was a bit inconsistent. The best service we received was poolside, where the attendantsâparticularly those handling food and towel serviceâwere outstanding. The service at Al Pirro was also top-notch. Housekeeping was exceptional, with the team maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and attention to detail, making it some of the best weâve experienced during our extensive travels.||Fitness/Spa/On-Site Activities |The resort offers a well-equipped gym, which was sufficient for getting in a good workout. However, I was surprised to find that regular fitness classes werenât part of the standard offerings. While they occasionally bring in an instructor for select classes, itâs not the same as having a consistent fitness schedule included in the stayâsomething Iâve come to expect from other resorts.||As for the spa, it was a mixed experience. Unfortunately, the spa services we had hoped to book werenât available during our stay. That said, the spa facilities themselves were impressive. The hydrotherapy pools, with varying temperatures and hydroponic features, were some of the best Iâve seen. There was also a refreshing freshwater pool that provided a relaxing and rejuvenating experience.||Overall, while the fitness and spa offerings could have been more comprehensive, the spaâs hydrotherapy amenities were a standout feature. If you're looking for a place to unwind and enjoy some quiet relaxation, this resort does offer a beautiful space to do so.||Final Thoughts|As Marriott Bonvoy Lifetime Titanium Elite members, we travel often, for work and pleasure and have stayed at numerous properties worldwide, the majority of which are Marriott resorts. Solaz Los Cabos holds its own, offering an exceptional stay in a breathtaking location. Though there were a few minor hiccups with the service and the pool chair situation, they didnât detract from what was otherwise a fantastic vacation. We would definitely recommend this resort, especially if you're looking for a luxurious yet peaceful getaway.||Enjoy your next...
Read moreI made the horrible mistake of choosing the Solaz Resort. I visited June 13, 2025 and checked out early on June 14, 2025. ||Strike 1 - Welcome Hoax |I entered Solaz Resort Los Cabos filled with excitement, eager to celebrate my fiancĂ©'s birthday in what seemed to be a luxurious destination in San Jose del Cabo. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm quickly turned into disappointment. ||Upon arriving, we were greeted with the standard welcome drink and a cool towel, but that was where the pleasant experience ended. During check-in with Nestor, I inquired about a suite upgrade as a platinum elite memberâa request I had submitted in advance to enhance the birthday celebration. ||To my surprise, my request went unaddressed until I specifically asked about it; I was then simply offered a higher floor. Nestor informed me that he needed to consult with his manager, claiming no suites were available. ||As I waited, I couldnât help but notice another family nearby who had the same elite status and was promptly upgraded to the suite of their choiceâwithout any obstacles. This sparked my confusion, especially since they were receiving preferential treatment right in front of us. When I raised my concerns with Nestor, he seemed taken aback, almost as if he assumed I wouldnât notice the difference in service levels. I was then told that my upgrade to a higher floor would be ready shortly, with the suite potentially available in a few hours or even the next day. I couldnât fathom the idea of a room taking a day and a half to clean.||Strike 2 - More Disappointment (Bad food and Service) |Next came the dining experience, which proved to be another letdown. While waiting for our room to be ready, we decided to have lunch at the hotel around 3:30 PM. Despite the bar being largely empty, the bartender barely acknowledged our presence. The food we ordered was disappointing, with my fiancĂ© returning her cold fries and distasteful drink. We ended up spending $96 on a lackluster meal of cold burgers and less-than-acceptable drinksâdefinitely not what I expected from a resort that is supposed to be of luxury caliber. ||At 6 PM, we received a golf cart to take us to our room on the higher floor. Yet again, I was met with disappointment; the room had a water smell and appeared a bit worn. ||I was extremely exhausted and had just fallen asleep after my shower when my fiancĂ© woke me up, visibly upset, with a text notification stating that we would not be receiving the upgrade as promised.||Strike 3âTime to Go!|We quickly put on our shoes and made our way to the front desk, but Nestor was already off for the day. We encountered Uriel, the front desk manager, and once again explained our situation and the conflicting information we received. Uriel stated that an upgrade wasnât possible, which led us to request a refund so we could leave the next day. He then stated he needed to discuss it with his manager. After a brief conversation, to our surprise, Uriel returned with an offer of a complimentary buffet breakfast and a promise of an upgraded suite for the following day. His sincere apology was a small consolation, and we reluctantly agreed to stay.||The next morning, I received yet another text saying they were uncertain when the suite would be ready. I opted to go to breakfast alone since my fiancĂ© was understandably frustrated. Unfortunately, the food was just as disappointing as the previous meal. At that point, I had made my decisionâwe were leaving! I communicated my desire for a refund for the remaining days to the front desk, and they agreed without much resistance. ||We had planned a boat ride, so we went ahead with that. After returning, I finally received a message at 3:20 PM stating that our upgraded suite was ready. Our bags were already packed and car waiting for us to depart. ||In hindsight, the best decision I made was to leave the Solaz Resort. We relocated to a different resort where our experience completely changed; the service was impeccable, and the quality of the food was outstanding.||In conclusion, I cannot recommend Solaz Resort Los Cabos. Save yourself the stress and disappointment, and donât risk ruining a vacation or special occasion due to subpar service and food. Iâm now back home in Washington, DC, and felt compelled to share this lengthy review as a warning to others. Our initial trip was for five (5) days and we left after one (1). ||Please note, I have yet to receive my refund for the remaining four (4) days I...
